three thousand dollars annually for the purpose of paying any loan which may be made in pursuance of the provisions of the first section of this act, and of paying any interest which shall have accrued or may accrue on such loan; or in case no such loan shall be made, for the purpose of cutting said canal in conformity with the provisions of the first section of this act.

SEC. 3. That for the purpose of raising said tax, all property shall be subject to taxation which is subject to taxation by the act to which this is amendatory.

AN ACT

To authorize the Adjutant General to draw on the Treasurer for money to meet certain expenses.

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

SECTION 1. That the treasurer of the territory is hereby authorized to pay on the draft of the adjutant general, such sum or sums of money as may be necessary to meet the expenditures of that office, authorized by law, not exceeding three hundred and twenty-five dollars; for the faithful expenditure of which the adjutant general shall account with the auditor of the territory, and make report to the next legislature,

AN ACT

To authorize the trustees of Washington school district No. 2, in Snake Hollow school town, in Grant county, to sell the old school house and levy an additional tax to build a new

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

SECTION 1. That the trustees of Washington school dis- School house trict number two in Snake Hollow school town, in Grant to be sold and

AN ACT

To repeal "An act to incorporate the village of
Beloit."

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

SECTION 1. That an act entitled "An act to incorporate the village of Beloit," approved February 24th, 1845, be and the same is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. That all monies now in the hands of the officers The money to be applied for of said corporation, collected by tax or otherwise for the use school purpo- of said corporation, shall be paid over into the hands of the trustees of common schools for the district or districts in which such incorporation is located, for them to be used for school purposes in said district or districts: Provided, that no monies belonging to said corporation shall be paid over until all debts against the same shall have been satisfied; and the treasurer of said corporation is hereby authorized to retain the said monies in his hands and apply them to the payment of all claims against said corporation which shall be presented to him for payment within four months after the passage of this act, after which the residue, if any remaining in his hands, shall be paid over to the said district or districts. Sec. 3. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.
