SEC. 12. That Elbert Dickenson, Harvey Bush, and Samuel Dunn, be and are hereby appointed commissioners to alter and re-locate the territorial road from Madison to Fort Winnebago, which was laid [out] in pursuance of an act passed by the legislative assembly in 1846.

SEC. 13. All that part of the territorial road from Geneva, in Walworth county to Milwaukee, as embraced in town two, range eighteen east, is hereby declared to be vacated.

SEC. 14. That A. F. Pratt, Thomas H. Drury, and Jacob Van Vechten, are hereby appointed commissioners to alter se much of the Illinois and Prairieville road as runs through the town of Prairieville, in the county of Waukesha.

SEC. 15. That all that part of the Racine and Prairieville territorial road as runs on sections four, five, ten, fourteen, and fifteen, in town four, range twenty-one, be and the same is vacated.

SEC. 16. That Lucius Page, Daniel B. Post, and Harrison Stebbins, be and are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out a territorial road from Janesville in Rock county, by the best and most practicable route on the east side of Rock river, to the bridge across said river at Indian ford, .in the town of Fulton, thence across said bridge, thence by the best and most practicable route to Fort Winnebago, in Columbia county.

SEC. 17. Section five of an act to provide for laying out certain territorial roads therein named is hereby repealed, and John Cook, Warren Sweet. and Willis T. Burton, be and they hereby are appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a territorial road, commencing at a point on the territorial road running from Milwaukee to Janesville, at or near Tibbet's, in Walworth county, thence to Indian ford on Rock river, town four, range twelve, thence to or near Cook's mills, on section six, town four, range eleven east, thence on the nearest and best route to intersect the territorial road located in 1845 from Milwaukee to Mineral Point, at or east of the point where said road crosses the Picatonica.

SEC. 18. That John Messersmith, W. F. Jenkins, and Dodgeville to Madison Isaac Farwell, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out a territorial road from Dodgeville, beginning at the east end of Spring street, in said village, thence to the centre of section twenty-four, town nineteen, range three, thence east one-half mile, thence northeast till it strikes mill creek, thence to Hickox's mill, thence by the house of William Ruggles to Robert Emery's, thence east until it intersects the territorial road from Madison to Helena.

SEC. 19. That James D. Doty, Harrison Reed, and Joseph Lake Winnebago to Grand Lannier, are hereby appointed commissioners to survey out Kaukalan and establish a territorial road from the outlet of Lake Winnebago to the foot of Grand Kaukalan, on the east side of Fox river.

SEC. 20. That Leonard Ross, Sylvester Wheeler, and Road altered. Robert Wilter, be and are hereby appointed commissioners to make such alterations as they may deem proper in that part of the Exeter and Fort Winnebago territorial road which lies between Badger mills, in Dane county, and Exeter, in Green county.

SEC. 21. That Lybrant Hall, Alanson Richards, and Eli- In Dodge eo: jah Wood, be and are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a territorial road, commencing on the section line between sections twenty-one and twenty-eight, in town ten, range fifteen, in Dodge county, thence running east on section lines as near as possible to the road from Watertown to Hustis' ford, at the corner of sections nineteen and twenty, from thence to intersect the road leading from Hustis' ford to Milwaukee, on the best and most feasonable

route.

SEC. 22. That J. W. SEC. 23. That Erastus G. Snell, N. T. Holmes, and John T. Haight, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a territorial road, commencing at or near the house of the said Snell, in Jefferson county, to Clinton, Dane county.

SEC. 24. That Nathan G. Van Horn, Niel A. Perry, and John T. Haight, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out and establish a territorial road, commencing at or near Hall's saw mill, on Koskonong creek, Jefferson county, to Clinton, in Dane county, and from thence to the house of Ossemus McCray, in said county of Dane.

Resolved by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That the auditor of the territory be, and he hereby is di rected to credit Jonathan Larkin, Esq. Treasurer of the terri

tory, with forty-five thousand three hundred and eighty-four dollars and forty-two cents, being the amount in full of territorial indebtedness, received into the treasury by said treasurer up to the 15th day of January, A. D. 1847, as appears from the books and reports of said treasurer, which amount has been cancelled by a committee of the legislative assembly.

AN ACT

To authorize the register of deeds of Fond du Lac county to procure certain copies of records.

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

SECTION 1. The register of deeds of Fond du Lac county Duty of regis is hereby required to procure, from the records in the office ter of deeds. of the register of deeds in Brown county, true and exact copies of all deeds, mortages, town plats, and other instruments recorded in the office of said register of deeds of Brown county, which relate to, or affect the title to lands, or real estate, situated within the limits of Fond du Lac county, and record the same in a book, or books, to be by him procured for that purpose.

SEC. 3. The register of deeds of Brown county, shall permit the register of deeds of Fond du Lac county, to have access to the records of his office, at all reasonable hours, for the purpose of procuring such copies.

SEC. 4. The copies of such records, made and certified as herein provided, shall have the same form and effect as the original record.

SEC. 5. The register of deeds of Fond du Lac county, shall be paid out of the county treasury of said county, for performing the duties herein enjoined upon him, and for preparing a suitable index, to the records by him copied, such compensations not exceeding ten cents per folio, as the county board shall deem just and equitable.
