NOTE TO FRONTISPIECE.

In the parish church at Ugborough, Devonshire, England, William Kinge and Agnes Elwill were married October 16, 1642, and in it their son, James King, the founder of the King Family of Suffield, Connecticut, was baptized November 7, 1647.

In the north Transept of the church is a mural monument in memory of two ancestors of the family who are entombed in the vault under it.

In the church yard Agnes Elwill Kinge, the mother of James King, was buried April 7, 1662, and other ancestors are buried there.

The church is very ancient. See page 44.
