Mr. King went to California in 1861 but enlisted in Company K, 2nd California Vols. at Empire Ranch, Yuba Co., Cal., July 30, 1862, and was honorably discharged Aug. 9, 1865. He was in the battle of Bear River Jany. 29, 1863, one of the most desperate engagements fought by our troops against Indians.
