Aquæ Mentha Piperitæ. 3 iv. 3 ij. 3 iij. M. Sig. A teaspoonful before mea's and at bed time. Begin treatment three days before going on board. -Dr. G. M. Beard. When preparatory treatment has been neglected and the disease fully established, put a teaspoonful of the above in a half-tumbler of water, add a drop of fluid extract ipecac, and give a teaspoonful every five minutes. It generally relieves the patient in less than an hour. 2 parts. Dissolve the menthol in the bromide of ethyl and rub on the affected regions. M. ft. sol. (One drop of this solution contains one one-hundredth of a drop of nitro glycerine). Sig. One drop, to be repeated in fifteen minutes if relief be not obtained. -Dr. Wm. 4. Hammond. Dr. Hammond says of this prescription that he has rarely had occasion to use more than two drops before complete relief is afforded. M. Sig. To be rubbed over the parts.
