The Clerk produced to this Board the several engrossed Grants for Water Lots on Hunter's Key, to wit, to William Brownjohn, Jacobus Van Zandt, Henry Carmer, Daniel Gomez, Theophilact Bache, Archibald Kennedy, John Morton, Joseph Hallet, James Jauncey Jun', Stephen Richards & Theop1t Bache Ex's of Paul Richards deed, [464] Nicholas Governeur, Jacob Walton, John Griffiths, & Abraham Walton; and also another engrossed Grant to Mary Ten Eyck for a Water Lot fronting her Dwelling House on Cruger's Wharf; also one other engrossed Grant to Henry H Kip for a Water Lot on Burnets Key; and also two other Grants, the one to Peter Bogert, and the other to John, Henry & James Riker; all which several Grants being read and approved of, were by order of this Board signed by Mr Mayor & Aldm Blagge; and ORDERED to be delivered to the several Grantees therein named on their Executing Counterparts thereof.

ORDERED the Mayor issue his Warrant to the Treasurer N of this City to pay to Mess's Hardenbrook & Dominick or 2858 Order the Sum of £1 II : 10 in full of their Acct against (Issued) this Corporation as [465] p' said Account audited by the Committee and allowed of by this Board.

ORDERED that the Clerk of this Board give Notice to Mr Peter P Van Zandt & also to Jacob Brewerton that on Wednesday next at 3 o'clock in the Afternoon, this Board will take into Consideration, the said Peter P Van Zandt's Petition for a Water Lot in front of his Dwelling House in the East Ward of this City; and that they may then be heard by

themselves or counsel respecting the same; and further ORDERED that the Clerk give Notice to Mess's Lott & Roosevelt and also to Mr David Provoost, that at the same Time this Board will also take into consideration the said David Provoosts Claim to a Water Lot on Hunters Key and his Petition for a Grant of the same &c and that the said Messrs Lott & Roosevelt & the said David Provoost, may also then be heard. by themselves or Counsel respecting the same.

This being the Day appointed for taking into Consideration the Petition of Peter P Van Zandt, preferred to this Board the 13th Day of July 1773, praying a Grant of the Water Lot in Front of his Dwelling. House in the East Ward of this City &c:- Mr Jay of Counsel for the said Peter P Van Zandt appeared before this Board, and urged his Reasons why this Corporation should grant the said Water Lot to the said Peter P Van Zandt, or make Compensation for the Damage he sustains by Reason of the Loss of the Wharfage of so much of his Front upon the River as is taken up by the Pier, built by David Provoost, and leased to him by this Corporation in the Year 1749/50 for the Term of 99 Years; which Reasons being heard and considered, the Question was put, whether this Board shall grant to the said Peter P Van

Zandt, the Prayer of his said Petition, so far as it respects the granting of the whole of the said Water Lot, which was carried in the Negative; another Question was then put whether this Board shall grant to the said Peter P Van Zandt any Part of the said Water [467] Lot so prayed for by him, which was also carried in the Negative; another Question was then put, whether this Board shall compel Mr Jacob Brewerton, (the Assignee of the said David Provoost) to extend and carry out the said Pier the same Breadth it now is, the whole Extent of this Corporation's Right into the said East River, which was also carried in the Negative.

ORDERD by this board that the Assize of bread be as follows flour at 16 Pr Ct

A white loaf of the finest flour to weigh 1lb: 130z for 4 Coppers and further ORDERD that no other bread be made for Sale within this City, than according to the above assize (hard bisquits only Excepted) and that all Bakers within the Same, take Notice hereof and make their bread accordingly

[468] This being the day appointed, for the Sale of the Stalls and Standings in the Several publick markets of this City, and likewise of the wharfs and Slips belonging to this Corporation, and the Same being put up and exposed to publick Auction, accordingly, the Said

Stalls and Standings in the said publick Markets were sold & Struck off to Abraham Van Gelder for the Term of two years to commence from the first day of May next at the Yearly Rent of £375 and the said wharfs & Slips were also Sold & Struck off to John Bingham for the same Term of two years to Commence also the first of May next, at the yearly Rent of £500, subject to the Covenants Contained in the Conditions of Sale; ORDERD that the Clerk hereof, prepare Leases to them Respectively for the Same.

[469] ORDERED that Mr Recorder, Aldm Waddell, Ald Gautier, & Aldm Mathews together with Mr Theophilus Hardenbrook, Mr Huggett, Mr Hamersly & Peter T Curtenius be a Committee to superintend the Building of the Bridewell, to make Contracts, purchase materials, Audite Accounts &c: and that any three of them be a sufficient Number to transact the said Business, should it be inconvenient for the Rest of the Committee to attend.

ORDERED by this Board, that the Committee lately appointed to build a Stairs at the Corporation Wharf at the North-River cause a Block to be sunk on the southwest side of the said wharf for the greater conveniency, accomodation & safety of the ferry boats that are to land there.
