[532] Mr Mayor informed this Board, that in Consequence of his having been appointed to the Mayoralty, his Office as Alderman of the East Ward became vacant, and that an Election had been held this Day for the Choosing a fit Person in his stead, at which Election Thomas W Moore was appointed to preside, by whose Certificate now produced it appears, that Abraham Brasher was duly elected to the said Office of Alderman of the said East Ward, and the said Abraham Brasher appearing in Common Council took the respective Oaths appointed by Law to be taken, and his Seat accordingly.

ORDERED the Mayor, issue his Warrant to the Treasurer N: 3019 of this City to pay to Blaney H Moore or order the Sum of twenty Shillings for his Services as Clerk at the Election of

an Alderman for the East Ward &c.

ORDERED the like, to Johannes Myer Messenger and Doorkeeper to this Board or order the Sum of £3 : 15 for a Quarter's Salary due unto him and ending this Day.

ORDERED by this Board, that the Honble John Harris Cruger Esq their present Chamberlain be allowed the Commission of 5 Cent upon the Watch & Lamp Funds. (Copied for Mr Cruger)

ORDERED by this Board, that John Fish be appointed a Fireman in the Room of Gerardus Deforeest who has declined Serving any longer in that Office.

[533] ORDERED that the Clerk of this Board prepare Advertizements to be put in the weekly Gazettes for Letting to Farm the Ferry from Peck's Slip to Nassau Island; also the Ferry from the Fly Market to the said Island together with the Ferry-House Barns &c, and also the Ferry from Coenties Dock to Livingston's & Remsen's Wharf on Nassau Island; for the Term of two Years from the first Day of May next; the Same to be sold at publick Out-Cry at the Com: Council Chamber on Monday the 25th Day of March next at two o'Clock in the Afternoon, and that this Board or the Major part of them be a Committee to let the same, upon such Conditions as they shall judge proper.

ORDERED the Mayor issue his Warrant to the Treasurer of this City to pay to Samuel Guilford or order the Sum of £30 for one Years Interest of his Bond for £600 from this Corporation due the 24th January last

ORDERED the like to Edward Blagge or order the Sum of £39, in full of his account for sundry Inquisitions by him taken from the 28th of May 1775 to the 27th January 1776, as Pr said Acct sworn to & allowed of by this Board.

ORDERED by this Board, that Alderman Gautier & Alderman Brasher be the Signers of such Bills of the first Emission of the Denomination of 2/ as are still wanting to make up the Number of 4000. ORDERED the Mayor issue his Warrant to the Treasurer of this City to pay to Wm Mitchell or order the Sum of £5 for his Quarter's Salary as publick Whipper of this City due to him this Day

A White Loaf of the finest Flour to weigh 1lb 111⁄2oz for 4 Coppers ORDERED that the above Assize be till further Order, and that no other Bread be made for Sale within this City, than according to the above Assize (hard Biscuits only excepted) and that all Bakers take Notice thereof, and make their Bread accordingly.

ORDERED that the Chamberlain replace in the Revenue Fund the Sum of five hundred Pounds, which he took by order of this Board from the Lamp & Watch Fund; the said Sum so to be replaced to be taken from the Fund last mentioned.

ORDERED the like to Abm Van Gelder or order the Sum of 199 (out of the Lamp & Watch Money) to be by him. paid to the sundry Lamp Lighters for lighting the City Lamps from the first Day of Febry last to the first Day of March Instant, as p his Acc! audited by the Committee

and allowed of by this Board.

ORDERED the like to Patrick Walsh or order the Sum of No £4418:6 (out of the Watch & Lamp Money) in full of his 3028 Acct for Money due to himself & others for Watching this City from the 16th of Febry last to the 15th of March Instant, as p said Account audited by the Committee, sworn to and allowed of by this Board. ORDERED the like to advance to Christopher Colles or order the Sum of £20, for the Expences of supporting himself & Family for two months past.

ORDERED that Aldm Brasher be appointed to wait of [on] Mr Chamberlain in order to obtain an exact State of the Debts due to and from this Corporation, that the same may be laid before this Board for their Consideration

ORDERED that Aldm Brasher and Aldm Gautier be appointed the Signers of the Dollar Bills of the last Emission; that Ald Blagge and Mr Chamberlain be Signers of 2500 of the half Dollar Bills of the same. Emission; and that the Mayor & Alderman Brewerton be Signers of the like Number of Bills of the same Denomination & Emission as last aforesaid.

ORDERED that Samuel McGee, who lately worked at the Bridewell, and is now about to leave the City, have Leave to make the Sashes for the said Bridewell, at his Leisure in the Country, which Work he is to be paid for, when the said Sashes shall be delivered to this Corporation, at their Request, and not before.

ORDERED the Mayor issue his Warrant to the Treasurer No 3031 of this City, to pay to John Crook & others Executors of Charles Crook or Order, the Sum of £50 for 2 Years Interest of a Bond of £500 from this Corporation to the said Charles. Crook due the 7th Day of May last.

This being the Day appointed by this Board for the Sale of the Ferry from Countesses' Slip at the Fly Market, to the Wharf at Nassau Island, together with the Ferry House &c: and also of the Ferry from Peck's Slip to the Wharf at said Island lately built by this Corporation, and the same being set up at publick Auction, the former was sold to Adolph Waldron for the Term of 2 years for the Sum of £450 Annum and the Latter to Thomas Ivory for the Sum of £60, per Annum for the like Term, subject to the Conditions of Sale by them respectively signed; ORDERED that the Clerk of this Board prepare Leases to them for the same, for the said Term of two Years to commence the 1st of May next.
