CHAPTER CLXXVI.

An ACT enabling Elizabeth Wilson and George Spangler, a committee appointed by the court of common pleas, of York county, to convey part of a certain tract of land to James

Patterson.

WHEREAS it appears by a certified copy of the proceedings of the court of common pleas of York county, that Elizabeth Wilson and George Spangler were appointed a committee to take care of the person and estate of Thomas Wilson, a lunatic, and that the said Thomas and James Patterson were jointly seized of a tract of two hundred and eighty-one acres and one hundred and forty-seven perches, situate in Chanceford township, in said county, as tenants in common, which for the mutual benefit of the said parties has been divided, but by reaşon of the lunacy of the said Thomas, he is unable to release or confirm to the said James the part allotted to him.

SECT. I. Be it enacted by the senate and bouse of representatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in general assembly met, G, Spangler and it is bereby enacted by the authority of the same, That and E. CHAPTER CLXXVIII.

An ACT to dissolve the marriage contract between William
M-Glaughlin, and Isabella bis wife.

WHEREAS it appears to the legislature, that about sixteen years since, a certain William McGlaughlin, now of White-Deer township, in the county of Northumberland, intermarried with Isabella M'Curly; that they continued to live together for near six years; that the cruel treatment of the husband to his wife was such as to compel her to leave him, or to remain at the eminent hazard of her life; she chose the former.

SECT. I. CHAPTER CLXXIX.

An ACT to authorize the governor to appoint commissioners for the purpose of laying out a state road.

SECT. 1. BE it enacted by the senate and house of representatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in general assembly met, Governor to and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That appoint three the governor be, and he is hereby authorized to appoint three commission- disinterested commissioners, one of whom shall be a practical surveyor, but neither of them an inhabitant of Fayette or Greene Their duty. counties, to lay out and mark a state road from the intersection of the state road, (leading from the white horse tavern on the top of the Allegheny mountain, through Berlin in Somerset county, and Connelsville in Fayette county,) with the United States turnpike road, by the nearest and best route for a public road, to the town of Waynesburg in Greene county, and thence by the nearest and best route to the western boundary of this state, in a proper direction towards the flats of Grave creek; and the said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall proceed to perform the duties by this act required of them, on or before the first Monday of June next, and shall cause a draught of the said road to be deposited in the office of the secretary of a this commonwealth, and shall also deposit a copy of said draught in the office of the clerk of quarter sessions of the respective counties through which said road may pass, which shall be a record of said road, and from thenceforth shall be, to all intents and purposes, a public highway, and shall be opened and repaired in all respects as other roads are opened and repaired, which are laid out by order of the court of quarter sessions, in said counties.

An ACT for the relief of William Tenant, an old soldier, wounded at the storming of Stony Point.

SECT. I. BE it enacted by the senate and house of represen tatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in general assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That $40 to be the state treasurer be, and he is hereby directed to pay William paid to W. CHAPTER CLXXXI.

An ACT to validate and confirm the proceedings of certain justices of the peace, of the county of Centre, and of Frederick Haymaker, a justice of the peace of the county of Crawford.

SECT. I. BE it enacted by the senate and house of representatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in general assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That The acts of all acknowledgments of deeds, powers of attorney, and other justices in instruments of writing, taken prior to the first of January, one thousand eight hundred and twelve, before justices of the peace who had been commissioned for districts within the counties of Mifflin, Northumberland, Lycoming, or Huntingdon, which were included within the county of Centre, by the act for erecting the said county of Centre into a separate county, and all judgments rendered by the said justices prior to the said first day of January last, and all other the official and judicial acts of the said

justices, be and they are hereby declared to be valid and effectual to all intents and purposes, as if the said act had not been passed, or as if the said justices had been appointed and commissioned for the county of Centre; and all deeds and other instruments recorded, which were acknowledged before any justice of the peace aforesaid, the recording thereof is hereby declared to be as valid and effectual, to all intents and purposes, as the record of any other deed or conveyance within this commonwealth.

An ACT for the relief of Catharine Fisher, widow of the late
Garrat Graff, deceased, an officer in the revolution.

SECT. I. BE it enacted by the senate and house of represen tatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in general assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the state treasurer be, and he is hereby directed to pay unto Catharine Fisher, or order, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of twenty dollars, commencing the first of January, one thousand eight hundred and twelve, to be paid half yearly, during her life.
