An ACT to authorize any incorporated bank within the city of
Philadelphia, to make loans to the government of the United

States.

SECT. 1. BE it enacted by the senate and bouse of represen tatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania in general assem

bly met, and it is bereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Incorporated the president and directors of any incorporated bank in the city banks in the of Philadelphia, in the capital stock of which this commonwealth city may loan hath an interest, may loan any sum or sums of money to the to the general government of the United States, which in the opinion of the government said president and directors, will not be prejudicial to the interest of such bank, any former law to the contrary notwithstanding: Provided always, that this commonwealth shall have the preference in obtaining loans, should the same be authorized by monwealth to law for the purpose of advancing the quota of taxes, which may have preferbe required from this state, for the support of the government ence、 of the United States; and in order that said banks may at Loans to be all times be in a situation, to make such loan to this state, all approved by loans as aforesaid, to be made by them to the United States, the governor. from either of the said incorporated banks, shall be regulated in their amount by the approbation of the governor ; And pro- Proviso. vided always, that nothing in this act shall be deemed or taken to authorize any of said banks to create debts amounting to more than double the amount of their capital stock, as provided by their respective charters of incorporation.

An ACT to vest the title of this commonwealth to a certain escheated estate in Robert Gregg.

WHEREAS it appears that a certain William Gregg, an alien late of Washington county, died seized of a certain tract of land, situate in the said county, containing one hundred and twelve acres, having by his last will devised the same to his son Robert Gregg; And whereas, the said tract of land, by reason of the alienage of the said William Gregg, escheated to this commonwealth to the prejudice of his said devisee: Therefore,

CHAPTER CLIX.

A SUPPLEMENT to the act, entitled" An act to amend and consolidate with its supplements the act, entitled "An act for the recovery of debts and demands not exceeding one bundred dollars, before a justice of the peace, and for the election of constables and for other purposes.

SECT. I. An ACT to enable the governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road, by the best and nearest route, from the town plot of New-Baltimore, in the county of Bradford, to the New Milford turnpike, at or near the first mile stone of said turnpike.

SECT. I. BE it enacted by the senate and bouse of representatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania in general assembly Commission- met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That ers appointed.
