CHAPTER LXVII.

An ACT to authorize the further improvement of the statebouse-yard, in the city of Philadelphia, and for other purposes.

WHEREAS the corporation of the city of Philadelphia in pursuance of the authority given to them by the fourth section of the act of the general assembly, passed the thirtieth day of April, in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-one, have lowered the walls of the east and west sides of the state-house-yard, and placed iron palisadoes thereon agreeably to the direction of the said act; and whereas, it would add to the improvement of the public walks if the south wall was also lowered, and palisadoes erected thereon; Therefore,

CHAPTER LXVIII.

An ACT for the relief of Richard Harding.

SECT. I. BE it enacted by the senate and house of representatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania in general assembly

$144 41 to be met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the paid to R. treasurer of this commonwealth shall, immediately after the Harding. passing of this act, pay to Richard Harding, or his lawful attor ney, out of any money in the treasury, the sum of one hundred and forty-four dollars and forty-one cents, with interest thereon since January fourteenth, one thousand seven hundred and ninety four, being the amount due to the said Richard Harding, for his depreciation pay, and which had escheated to this commonwealth.

CHAPTER LXIX.

An ACT granting an annuity to Joseph Johnson, for life, and also granting to him a tract of donation land.

SECT. I. BE it enacted by the senate and house of representatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in general assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the state-treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized to pay to James Scott, of Butler county, or order, the sum of forty dollars, for the use of Joseph Johnson of Butler county; and that an annuity of forty dollars be granted to said Joseph Johnson, to be paid half yearly during his life, to James Scott, of Butler county, aforesaid, his executors, or administrators, his or their lawful attorney, by the state-treasurer; to commence the first day of Jan. uary, one thousand eight hundred and twelve; which annuity shall be expended by the said James Scott, his executors or administrators, his or their lawful attorney, in providing clothing and diet for the said Joseph Johnson; and it shall be and hereby is made the duty of the said James Scott, his executors or administrators, his or their lawful attorney, to make an annual statement to the orphans' court of the county of Butler, aforesaid, on oath or affirmation, shewing the manner in which he or the orphans' they have executed the trust reposed in him or them by this act; and it shall be the duty of the clerk of said court, to file said account without fee or reward.

CHAPTER LXX.

A further SUPPLEMENT to an act, entitled "An act establishing the seat of government of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at Harrisburgh, in the county of Dauphin'

SECT. 1. BE it enacted by the senate and house of represen

tatives of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania in general assembly

met, and it is bereby enacted by the authority of the same, That g 13,000, apthe sum of thirteen thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby propriated. appropriated, to complete the fire-proof offices at Harrisburgh,

the building of which was authorized by the sixth section of the

act to which this is a supplement,

SECT. II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, How to be paid. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, Shelves, That the secretary of the commonwealth, secretary of the land- counters, &c. office, surveyor-general, state treasurer, and auditor-general, be and they are hereby authorized, and it is made their duty to employ and contract with one or more carpenters, to make suitable counters, shelves, and other necessary furniture, in all the departments of the offices of government in said buildings, for the reception and safe-keeping the books and documents belonging to their respective offices, and transmit the accounts to the auditor-general, who shall draw his warrant on the treasurer of
