JOHN EVANGELIST TO THE CHILDREN WHO READ THIS BOOK THE Teachings you will find in this book were given to the children of a Sunday School at the Children's Service on Sunday afternoons, and on Good Friday and Ascension Day. Some of the people who heard them thought that other children would like to know these things as well as the children of that school, and that they would help them to be good children; so I have written them down for you. When these Teachings were given in the Church we had a large blackboard, eight feet long and six feet wide, and a good friend who loves children used to draw pictures on the board for me. These pictures have been photographed, and you have them here in this book, that you may look at them when you read what is written. You will, I hope, find this a good book to read on Sundays. Perhaps you live where there is no service for children and no Sunday School. You can't understand the sermons at the morning service, and have nothing to do in the afternoon. You can read this book in the afternoon. If I were you, I would not sit down and try to read it all through like a story-book; you will get |
