XX. XXII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That if any person or persons fhall be fued or profecuted for any thing by him or them done or executed in pursuance of this act, he or they fhall and may plead the general iffue, and give this act and the fpecial matter in evidence, for his and their defence; and if upon trial a verdict fhall pass for the defendant : or defendants, or judgement fhall be given against the plaintif or plaintiffs upon demurrer; or if the plaintiff or plaintiffs tha! be nonfuited, or difcontinue his, her, or their action, after the defendant or defendants fhall have appeared, then fuch defendant and defendants fhall have treble cofts to him or them awarded against fuch plaintiff or plaintiffs; for which costs he and they shall have fuch remedy for recovery thereof, as any defendants or defendants hath or have in any other cafes where by law cofts are given to defendants.

For and upon all goods, wares, and merchandizes whatever, not herein before particularly charged (except fuch goods 25 are exempt from duty by this act) imported from Great Britain or Ireland, two pounds ten fhillings per centum ad valorem.

And for and upon all goods, wares, and merchandizes whatfoever, not herein before particularly charged (except fuch as are exempt from duty by this act) imported from any othe port or place from whence fuch goods may be lawfully impor ted into the faid Isle of Man, fifteen pounds per centum valorem.

II. Et for giving further encouragement for the importation of naval ores, and for other purposes therein mentioned) of the growth, roduction, or manufacture, of any British colony or plantation America; and all other goods of the growth, production, or nanufacture, of the faid colonies or plantations, for which any ounty or premium is allowed by law on the importation thereof Into Great Britain.
