CAP. XIX.

An all to enable his Majefty to fettle certain annuities on their royal highnesses the dukes of York, Gloucester, and Cumberland.

Moft gracious Sovereign,

WHEREAS your Majesty hath been pleased to recommend to the confideration of your faithful commons, that a more compein act 1 Geo. 3. tent provifion fhould be made for the honourable fupport and maintenance of your Majesty's royal brothers, the dukes of York, Gloucefter, and Cumberland, than the prefent neceffary charges upon your Majefty's civil lift have permitted your Majesty to make: and whereas by an act made in the first year of your Majefty's reign, intituled, An act for the support of his Majefty's household, and of the honour and dignity of the crown of Great Britain; the duties and revenues commonly called The Hereditary Revenues, together with feveral temporary duties and revenues thereby continued, and all other branches and revenues which, on the twenty fourth day of October, one thoufand feven hundred and fixty, stood fettled or appointed, to be towards the fupport of the household of his late majesty King George the second, of bleffed memory, and the honour and dignity of the crown, were (except as is therein excepted) directed to be, during your Majefty's life, carried to, and made part of, the general or aggregate fund eftablished by an act made in the first year of the reign of his late majefly King George the first; and for the support of your Majesty's boufehold, and of the honour and dignity of your crown, a certain yearly rent or rents, or fum or fums of money, was or were by the said act granted out of the faid fund: and whereas by an act made in the first year of the reign of her late majesty Queen Anne, for preferving the inheritance of feveral revenues of the crown, intituled, An act for the better fupport of her Majesty's household, and of the honour and dignity of the crown; all grants thereof (other than fuch as are therein expreffed) are declared to be void: and by another all made in the ninth year of her faid late Majefty's reign, intituled, An act for eftablishing a general poft office for all her Majefty's dominions, and for fettling a weekly fum out of the revenues thereof for the fervice of the war, and other her Majefty's occafions, it was enacled, That fuch part of the duties and revenues arifing in or by the ge

And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That both. if the officers of the receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, or the futing, or faid commiffioners, farmers, treasurers, or receivers, for the time neglecting to being, of all or any of the hereditary duties, revenues, or branches pay the faid aforefaid, upon which the said respective annuities, or yearly rents annuities or fums, or any part or parts thereof, fhall be charged as afore- when due and faid, fhall refufe or neglect to pay the faid refpective annuities, or yearly rents or fums, or any part thereof, according to the true intent of this act, and of fuch letters patent, indenture, or indentures, to be granted by his Majefty as aforefaid; or to do any or to do any act neceffary to enable any or either of their faid royal highneffes, act neceffary or any perfon or perfons by them refpectively authorized and to the regular appointed, to receive the fame; then each and every of their payment thereof, faid royal highneffes refpectively, to whom fuch annuity, or yearly rent or fum, fhall have been granted, or fuch other perfon or perfons who fhall be fo authorized or appointed to receive the fame, or any part thereof, fo neglected or refufed to be paid, are liable to may, from time to time, fue, profecute, or implead, fuch officers, be fued. commiffioners, farmers, treasurers, or receivers, or any of them, or all or any of their fecurities, heirs, executors, and administrators, by bill, plaint, or action of debt; and thall and may recover judgements, and fue out executions thereupon, against fuch officers, commiffioners, farmers, treasurers, or receivers refpectively, and their respective fecurities, heirs, executors, and adminiftrators, for fuch fum and fums of money then due and owing upon any fuch refpective annuity, or yearly rent or fum, or any part thereof, as fhall be in the hands of any fuch officers, commiffioners, farmers, treasurers, or receivers refpectively, at the time or times when demand fhall have been legally made of the payment of fuch refpective annuity, or yearly rent or fum, or any part thereof, as aforefaid, or for the refufal or neglect to do any act neceffary to be done to enable any or either of their faid royal highneffes, or any perfon or perfons by them refpec tively authorized and appointed, to receive the fame.

V. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That The powers, all and every the powers, precepts, directions, and claufes, to be directions,

An all for granting to his Majefty additional duties upon baft, or ftraw, chip, cane, and horse-hair hats and bonnets, and upon certain materials for making the fame, imported into this kingdom.
