CAP. VII.

An act for indemnifying such persons as have acted for the savice of the public, in advising or carrying into execution the order of council of the twenty fixth day of September laft, for laying an embargo on all ships laden with wheat or wheat flour; and for preventing fuits in confequence of the faid embargo.

An alt for allowing the importation of oats and oatmeal, rye and ryemeal, into this kingdom, for a limited time, free of duty.

all oats and oatmeal, rye and ryemeal, which fhall be imported or brought into this kingdom by virtue of this act before the faid twenty ninth day of September, one thousand seven hundred and fixty feven, at the custom-house belonging to the port into which the same shall be imported or brought in, or otherwise, in default of making fuch entry, fuch oats and oatmeal, rye and ryemeal, fhall be liable and fubject to fuch and the fame duties as were payable upon the importation thereof before the making of this act; any thing in this act contained to the contrary notwithstanding. CAP. IX.

An act for obviating doubts which have arifen with refped to So much of an act made in the first year of the reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled, (An act to amend an act paffed in the eighteenth year of the reign of King George the fecond, concerning the qualification of juftices of the peace, and for other purposes therein mentioned) as directs the taking of certain oaths by juftices of the peace, on the illuing of any new commiffion of the peace. WHEREAS doubts have arifen, with respect to the conftruc

tion of fo much of an act made in the first year of the reign of bis prefent Majefty, intituled, (An act to amend an act paffed in the eighteenth year of the reign of King George the Second, concerning the qualification of justices of the peace, and for other purposes therein mentioned) as relates to the taking of certain oaths by justices of the peace, on the issuing of new commiffions of the peace; be it therefore enacted and declared by the King's moit excellent majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords spiritual and temporal, and commons, in this present parliament affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That all perfons who have obliged to take been, or fhall be, appointed juftices of the peace, by any commifand fubfcribe fion or commiffions granted or to be granted by his prefent Mamentioned in jefty, and have taken and fubfcribed, or fhall take and fubfcribe, the oaths mentioned in the faid act made in the first year of his prefent Majefty's reign; and all perfons, who fhall be appointed juftices of the peace, by any commiffion or commiffions which fhall be granted after his Majefty's demife, by any of his fucceffors, Kings or Queens of this realm, and fhall have, after the iffuing of the firft commiffion, whereby fuch perfons fhall be appointed juftices of the peace, in the reign of any fuch King or Queen, taken and fubfcribed the faid oaths, fhall not be obliged, during the reign of his prefent Majefty, or during any future reign in which fuch oaths fhall have been fo taken and subscribed as aforesaid, to take and fubfcribe the fame oaths, for or by reafon of fuch perfons being again appointed juftices of the peace by any subsequent commiffion or commiffions which fhall be granted during any fuch reign; and fhall not incur any penalty or forfeiture for the not taking or fubfcribing the faid oaths.

An alt for allowing the importation of wheat and wheat flour, free of duty, from any part of Europe, for a further time than is allowed by an act made in this feffion of parliament; and for permitting the free importation of barley, barleymeal, and pulfe, into this kingdom, for a limited time.

HEREAS by an act paffed in this feffion of parliament, Preamble, the free importation of wheat and wheat flour from any part of Europe, into this kingdom, is permitted till the first day of March, one thousand feven hundred and fixty Seven: and whereas the allowing fuch importation for a further time, and the permitting the importation of barley, barley-meal, and pulfe; that is to fay, peas, beans, tares, and callivancies, into this kingdom, for a limited time, free of duty, will be advantageous to his Majesty's fubjects; may it therefore please your most excellent Majefty, that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the King's moft excellent majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this prefent parliament affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for any Barley, barperfon or perfons whatsoever to import into Great Britain, in any ley-meal, and Thip or veffel whatfoever, at any time or times before the first day pulfe, allowed of June, one thousand seven hundred and fixty seven, any wheat ed, duty free, to be importor wheat flour, and any barley, barley-meal, peas, beans, tares, from any part or callivancies, from any part of Europe, without the payment of of Europe, at E any fubfidy, cuftom, duty, or impofition whatsoever; and that any time before June, the fame may also at any time before the faid first day of June, 1767. -one thousand seven hundred and fixty seven, be carried coaftwife under fuch regulations as wheat and wheat flour, barley, barley-meal, peas, beans, tares, and callivancies, of the growth of this kingdom, are now allowed to be carried coaftwife; any thing in any former or other act or acts of parliament to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithstanding.

CAP. XII.

An act to discontinue, for a limited time, the duties payable upon the importation of tallow, bogs-lard, and greafe.

HEREAS the allowing, for a limited time, the free impor- Preamble. tation of tallow, hogs-lard, and greafe, may tend to the eafe of the publick, and advantage of the revenue, by reducing the price, and encouraging the confumption, of candles in this kingdom; be it therefore enacted by the King's most excellent majesty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this prefent parliament affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That from and after the twenty fifth day Tallow, hogs. of March, one thousand seven hundred and fixty feven, no fub- lard, and
