IX. Provided always, and be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That every owner or importer of fuch damaged and corrupt tobacco fhall, as a compenfation for freight and other charges, and for that the cutting off, and feparating the fame, may deface the remainder of the tobacco, have an allowance of twenty-five pounds weight of tobacco, free of all duties, for every one hundred pounds of fuch corrupt and damaged tobacco fo feparated, to be burnt or deftroyed, as aforefaid, and The allowance fo in proportion for any greater or leffer quantity; which allowto be by cer- ance of twenty-five pounds for every one hundred pounds of totificate, bacco fo to be made, as aforefaid, thall be by certificate; and the officers are hereby required to make, pafs, and pay fuch certificate without fee or reward, the tobacco mentioned in fuch certificate not to be placed to the merchant's export account, fo as fuch allowance of twenty-five pounds of tobacco for every one hundred pounds of damaged tobacco fo feparated or destroyed, does not exceed the quantity of one hundred and fifty pounds of tobacco, upon or for any hogfhead of Arranoco tobacco, or the quantity of two hundred pounds of tobacco, upon or for any hogfhead of fweet-fcented tobacco.

X. Provided always, and be it further enacted by the authoformer allow-rity aforefaid, That nothing in this act contained fhall be conances, not ex- ftrued to forbid or hinder the merchants or importers having an ceeding 40 lb. allowance made them for damaged tobacco, in fuch manner as on any one hogfhead. hath been ufual, fo as fuch allowance doth not exceed forty pounds weight of tobacco upon any one hogfhead; and for the more ready dispatch of business, fuch fmall damages, not exceeding forty pounds weight on any one hogshead, shall be viewed, and the allowance made in the fcale; any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

XI. XII. XIII. An act for laying additional duties on fope and paper, and upon certain linens, filks, callicoes and ftuffs, and upon ftarch, and exported coals, and upon stampt vellum, parchment and paper, for raifing one million four hundred thoufand pounds by way of a lottery, for her Majesty's fupply; and for allowances on exporting made wares of leather, fheep fkins, and lamb fkins, and for diftribution of four thousand pounds due to the officers and feamen for gunmoney; and to adjust the property of tickets in former lotteries; and touching certain fhares of stock in the capital of the South Sea company; and for appropriating the monies granted to her Majesty.

AY it please your most excellent Majefty, we your Majefty's most dutiful and loyal fubjects, the commons of Great Britain in parliament assembled, being defirous that such supplies as are neceffary for defraying your Majefty's publick expences, may be effectually raised, have therefore chearfully and unanimously given and granted, and do by this act give and grant unto your Majefty the several and respective rates and duties for and upon all fope made in Great Britain, or imported into the fame; and for and upon all paper made in Great Britain, or imported into the fame; and for and upon all chequered and ftriped linens to be imported into Great Britain; and for and upon certain filks, callicoes, and other enumerated goods, which fhall be printed, painted, ftained, or dyed in Great Britain; and for and upon all starch made in Great Britain; and for and upon all coals exported for foreign parts; and for and upon fuch stampt vellum, parchment and paper, and other things hereafter in this act more particularly described or mentioned, for and during fuch term or terms of years, and in fuch manner and For 32 years, form, as are herein after expressed; and do most humbly befrom 2 Aug. feech your Majefty, that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the Queen's most excellent majesty, by and with the advice ported to pay the additional and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, duty of Id. in this present parliament affembled, and by authority of the per lb. ,fame, That there fhall be raised, levied, collected, and paid, Made perpetual unto and for the use of her Majefty, her heirs and fucceffors, by 6 Geo. 1. c. 4. f. I. for and upon all fope of what kind foever, which at any time or times, within or during the term of two and thirty years, to be reckoned from the fecond day of Auguft in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fourteen, fhall be imported or brought into the kingdom of Great Britain, or made within the fame, the feveral and respective additional or new duties herein after defcribed or mentioned (over and above all customs, fubfidies, rates and duties chargeable upon fuch fope, or any part thereof, by any other act or acts of parliament now in force) that is to fay, For every pound weight, confifting of fixteen

II. For and upon all paper ufually called or known by the name Atlas Fine. of Atlas Fine, which fhall be imported or brought in, as afore

faid, the fum of eight fhillings for every ream, and after that

rate for a greater or leffer quantity.

For and upon all paper ufually called or known by the name Atlas Ordina. of Atlas Ordinary, which fhall be imported or brought in, as a- ry. forefaid, the fum of four fhillings for every ream, and after that

rate for a greater or leffer quantity.

For and upon all paper ufually called or known by the name Imperial Fine. of Imperial Fine, which fhall be imported or brought in, as aforefaid, the fun of eight fhillings for every ream, and after that. rate for a greater or leffer quantity.

For and upon all paper ufually called or known by the name of Super Royal Fine, which fhall be imported or brought in, as Fine. Super Royal aforefaid, the fum of fix fhillings for every ream, and after that rate for a greater or leffer quantity.
