ECLIPSES IN THE YEAR 1844.

There will be five Eclipses this year; three of the Sun and two of the Moon.

I. There will be an Eclipse of the Moon at the time of her full on the evening of the 31st of May. This Eclipse will be altogether invisible at St. Louis, Natchez, New-Orleans, Cincinnati, and throughout the greatest part of the United States; but at the following places the Moon will rise a few minutes before her last contact with the Earth's shadow, with a small Eclipse on her upper limb, as stated below:
