Characteristics of the Population. Separate reports for the United States, each State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Canal Zone. First issued in four separate, paperbound chapters, designated as A, B, C, and D, for each area. The four chapters for each area were then assembled and issued in buckram as numbered parts of Vol. I. In addition, all of the 57 chapters A have been assembled and issued in buckram as Part A of Vol. I. Chapter A. Number of Inhabitants. Final population counts for States and counties and their urban and rural parts, and for standard metropolitan statistical areas, urbanized areas, all incorporated places, unincorporated places of 1,000 or more inhabitants, and minor civil divisions. Chapter B. General Population Characteristics. Sex, age, marital status, color or race, and relationship to head of household. Chapter C. General Social and Economic Characteristics. Statistics on nativity and parentage, State of birth, mobility, education, families and their composition, employment status, occupation, income, and other subjects. Chapter D. Detailed Characteristics. These reports present most of the subjects covered in chapter C, classified by age, color, and other characteristics, with additional information on families, single years of age, occupation, and industry.
