An Act to provide for the holding of a Special Term of the District Court in Los

Whereas, Colonel Roderick Matheson, a citizen of the State of California, was killed

while leading his regiment in the battle and victory of " Crampton Gap," on

the second day of October, A. D. eighteen hundred and sixty-two, thus, in the

last of a series of gallant actions in which he had taken honorable part, giving

his life to his country, and leaving his wife and children to the protection and

care of the State; therefore, be it enacted, as follows: An Act for the relief of
