138. DR. THOMAS STEERE, son of Stephen (47), grandson of Richard (19), was born May 3, 1787. He married Mary Brown, daughter of Hezekiah Brown. He lived in Fentonville, Mich., where he died. Child: 380. THOMAS, b. March 31, 1819; m. Sarah Wilkinson, ƒ. 140. SMITH STEERE, Son of Stephen (47), grandson of Richard (19), was born March 11, 1794. He was a lawyer. He married Phebe McLane. They removed to Norwich, Chenango County, N. Y. He united with the Congregational Church there in 1862. Mrs. Steere was a member of the Baptist Church. He died March, 1883, aged 89; she died February, 1863. Smith Steere, with his brother Stephen, were among the first in the town of Norwich to sign the temperance pledge, and they carefully lived henceforth according to the stand they had taken. ANTHONY STEERE, son of Enoch (57), grandson of Anthony (26), was born on the old Enoch Steere place September 16, 1777. He married in Glocester, August 1, 1824, Deborah Wade, daughter of Oliver Wade. She was born December 25, 1804, and died January 16, 1884, aged 79 years and 22 days. He belonged to the Society of Friends. She was a member of the Free Baptist Church. He lived near Chepachet, about two miles northeast from the village, where his son Andrew J. now resides. He died May 22, 1856, aged 78. 400 401 402 Children: I. ENOCH MOWRY, b.
