year 1939, when the reign of victory is begun, is 120 years; the middle watch being the year of the Lord's vengeance, 1879.

CHAPTER XXV.

REV. chap. xxi. ver. 1-8. " And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away: and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying, Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end: I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

After the destruction of the beast and the false prophet, Gog and Magog, and Satan, the new social, political, and religious state shall appear; these being represented under the figure of a new heaven and a new earth, the first having passed away. In it there shall be no wickedness, no strife, no contention, no divisions, for there shall be no more sea; in the new heaven and new earth shall dwell righteousness. The holy city, the new Jerusalem, shall then appear, having come down from God Himself, out of heaven. He having made known His will unto men, they shall be made willing, and receive grace to do it. Men will adorn themselves with those heavenly graces and moral excellences which are the fruit of God's Spirit, even as a bride adorneth herself for her husband. God will then dwell in all His fulness with men; His delight shall be with the sons of men; all who live upon the earth shall be His people, and shall rejoice with joy unspeakable, when full of the glory of God. God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. The happiness of mankind will be perfect, without any alloy, for God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. Upon this point no man need entertain any doubt, for He that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things new. This is the time of the restitution of all things: and He said unto me, Write, for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, All men may regard it as actually done, for I have said it, and I will do it: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. If any man is athirst, desirous of true happiness, willing to know God and Jesus Christ whom He has

sent, to such a man I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh, continueth steadfast and unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, shall inherit all things; he shall never know a wish or desire which shall not be gratified; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the impenitent, who love darkness rather than light, their deeds being evil, and iniquity being their delight; these shall be cast into outer darkness, and shall receive the part they have chosen in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; this being the second death of wicked men.

Ver. 9-16. "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper-stone, clear as crystal; and had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel. On the east, three gates; on the north, three gates; on the south, three gates; and on the west, three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. And the city lieth four-square, and the length is as large as the breadth. And he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand fur

longs: the length and the breadth, and the height of it are equal." The angel who came unto John is a man, as explained in the 17th verse of this chapter; for the measure was the measure of a man, that is of the angel who spoke unto him. The bride is the church of Christ; which is also His wife and His body. John was carried away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and he saw the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. This is the counterpart of what happened to Ezekiel, who, "by the hand of the Lord, in the visions of God, was brought into the land of Israel, and set upon a very high mountain, by which was as a frame of a city on the south." (Ezek. xl. 2.) Ezekiel saw the framework, the man who spake with John showed him the city itself, having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. God was to appear in His glory when He came to build up Zion, so that the city having the glory of God, means, that he who is represented under the figure of one of the seven angels, would make known to men the glory of God, when the times of restitution were fully come. Her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. He that sat on the throne, which John saw set in heaven, (Rev. iv. 2, 3,) was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone, and before the throne was a sea of glass like unto crystal. God is to appear, and when He appears, believers will be like Him, for they shall see Him as He is. When the Lord comes to fill His temple, He shall be glorified in His saints, and admired in all them that believe, (because our testimony among you was believed,) in that day. The man was to be caught up unto God and
