ELIZABETH GRESHAM 1660.

Inn the name of God. Amen. I Elizabeth Gresham of Titsay in the County of Surrey widowe being at this time in perfet health and memorey thanks be given to Allmitey God therefore do make and ordayne this my last Will and Testament in maner and forme as foloweth. First I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmitey God my Creator assuredly trusting in his mercey by the merets of Jesus Christ my only Saviour to enheret eternall salvation and my body I bequeath to the earth to be dessently bured acording to my degree and quality in my chancel adjoining to the parish church of Titsay by my deare husband Sr John Gresham and for the charge of my funeralls I allott and order the som of one hundred and twenty pounds to be desposed and ordered by my executers and overseers here after named. As for the temporall estate where with it hath plesed God to blese me I give and despose in maner and forme following. First I give and bequeath unto the poure peopell of the parish of Titsay tenn pounds and I give unto the poore of the parish of Oxted five pounds and to other pour pecpell that shall com to my buriall what my executers and over seers shall think fet acording to the number of them. Item I give unto my brother Mr. Henery Bishop a brod brined flat basson and euer of sillver a creme boule eaigh plats all of sillver. Item I give unto his wife my sister Bishop a ring wth a fayre tabell diamund a warming pan and a suger box both of silver. Item I give unto her sister Mrs. Jane Fouller if she be then dwelling wth me a porenger and a spoun of silver and the ruby ring I uese to ware like a harte. Item I give unto my nece Mrs. Bickerstafe a ring wth a tabell diamund which my sister Allford her mother gave me and a braslet of greate pearle which is soued upon black rebon and the bed she ueseth to ly upon heare wth all belonging to it. Item I give unto her husband Mr. Charles Bickerstafe the grete Bibell my sister Allford gave me. Item I give unto there daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Bickerstafe my goddaughter four hundred ourent pearls out of my best chayne. Item I give unto Mrs. Jane Tresham my goddaughter

Item I give unto Sr Marmaduck Gresham all the pictures in the galerey not other ways desposed of and all the other furnitur belonging to the galerey. Item I give unto his wife the Lady Gresham my best sute of damask tabell linen. Item I give there daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Gresham my god daughter a perfuming pan of sillver. Item I give unto Mr. Thomas Gresham my husband's brother five pounds and I give unto his son Mr. John Gresham tenn pounds in money. Item I give unto Mr. Richard Couper of Tempell to ould sillver tankerds and a long narow carpett of nedell worck and his owne picture in the galerey and I give unto his wife ten ould sillver spouns. Item I give unto his sonn Mr. John Couper a silver boule. Item I give unto there daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Couper my god daughter twenty pounds in money and a ring wth a diamund set in white amell. Item I give unto my cossen Mr. Thomas Weston five pounds and I give unto my cossen Mr. Andrue Weston ten pounds in mony. Item I give unto my cossen Mr. Humphrey Bishop a ring wth three diamunds and I give unto his wife a gould ring with a death's hed. Item I give unto there sonn Mr. John Bishop my god sonn a sillver boule and I give unto there other sonn Mr. Thomas Bishop twenty shillings to by a ring.

Item I give unto Sr Steven Leanard baronnet of Wickham in Kent a gilt pot wth a cover and I give unto his lady a round cup wth a couer gilt and graven. Item I give unto there sonn Mr. Frances Leanard five pounds to by a wach. Item I give unto Mr. Robard Anderson a dosson of silver spouns wth flat handels. Item I give unto his wife Mrs. Ann Anderson a thre leged cup with a porenger cover all of silver and my pektur drane in black in the galerey. Item I give unto Ann Chranson the widowe five pounds in mony and to leden milk sesterns. Item I give unto her daughter Elizabeth Chranshom my god daughter five pounds in mony and a bras pot. Item I give unto Elizabeth Ounsted my god daughter five pounds in mony if she be not maried. Item I give unto good wife Elizabeth Quitington of Titsay a fether bed and all belonging to it with a payre of shets. Item I give unto Jone Sone now wife to Robard Yeong six ewe shepe three payre of strong shets a hall cloth a sute of hemen tabell linen and forty shillings in mony. Item I give unto Richard Daton five pounds in mony. Item I give unto Edward Machin A good fether bed and all belonging to it wth to payre of good shets a good millch cowe and ten pounds in mony. Item I give unto John Burch my coucke if he be dwelling wth me at the time of my death ten pounds in mony. Item I give unto all my other survants that hath served me seven years or more and ar dwelling with me at the time of my death five pounds a pece in mony and I give unto all my other survants that ar dwelling wth me at the time of my death forty shillings a pece over and above there wages then deue unto them. Item I give all my wearing cloths exseyt my best sute to be devided a mong my mayds. Item I do here by ordayne constitute make and a poynte my trusty and well beloved god daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Gresham daughter to Mr. Thomas Gresham of the chart of Limpsfild executorex of this my last Will and Testament, and do staytly charge desier and requier her to see all my dets payd and discharged and all my legacys satisfied and performed as well those by word of mouth as those in righting and not to question anything in this my Will which is retten wth my owne hand but to see it fully performed in all poynts and to these eands I give unto my said executrix Mrs. Elizabeth Gresham all my goods plate juels and chattels not other ways dissposed of and do here by revocke all former wils and resarve here by power to my selfe to ad by waye of sedell word of mouth or any waye to allter this my last Will and Testament when or howe so ever I shall think fet and I do name constitute and apoynt my well beloved brother Mr. Hary Bishop and my loving frend S Steven Leanard and my good frend Mr. Robard Anderson over seers of this my last Will giving them and everey of them full pouer and athoratey to see this my Will truly performed and what charge they shall be at consarning the performance of this my Will shall be aloued and payd them out of my estate in wittnes where of I have to both shets set to my hand and sele the 6 of September 1660.

Sined seled published and declared this to be my last Will and Testament in the presence of John Gainsford, Richard Scrase.

Memorandum That the tennth day of March in yeare of our Lord one Thousand six hunderd sixty and three I Dame Elizabeth Gresham of Titsey widdow and relict of Sir John Gresham of the said Titsey Kt doe make and ordeaine this present writting to be a codicill to bee anexed to the last Will and Testament of me the said Dame Elizabeth Gresham heretofore maid by me vizt I will and bequeth to Elizabeth Coupper my goddaughter besides what I have given here in my Will the sume of one hundred pounds to be paid to here by my execotors at here day of marig or att the agge of one and twenty yeares. And it is my will and desier yt the use of the said hundred pounds be duly and truly paid unto the said Elizabeth Coupper for and tourdes here mainteinence and the use to begine sixe monthes next after my desease and see to continue every half yeare to bee paid to here the said Elizabeth Coupper until such time as shee comes to the agge of one and twenty yeares aforesaid or day of marege which shall first happen. And then the principell full and holy to be paid to here. Itt I give and bequeth unto Mr. Edward Gresham eldest sonne of Sr Marmeduke Gresham a gould ring sett with five table dimonds in maner of a crose. Itt I will and bequeth to my cozen Prisick fife pounds of good and lawfull mony to be paid to here by my exectr with in 3 monthes after my decese if shee be then liveing. Itm I give and bequethe to Mrs. Mary Gresham daughter of my brother Thomas Gresham on silver poreinger and to Mrs. Jane Gresham her sister one silver poringer. In wittnesse where of I have to this present codicill sett my hand and seall and declare it to be anexed to my will the day and yeare above written.

Signed sealed and delivered to be a Codicill to be anexed to the Will of Dame Elizabeth Gresham in the presence of John Gresham, Ambrose Weston, Wm. Spranger.

In y name of God. Amen. The sixteenth day of July in the sixteenth yeare of the reigne of our most gratious Souveraigne Lord Charles ye second by ye grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of ye faith and in the yeare of our Lord Christ according to ye account now used in England one thousand six hundred sixty and three.

I, Dame Mary Gresham widdow and relict of Sr Edward Gresham of Lympsfeild in ye Countie of Surrey Knight deceased being of good and perfect minde and memory (thankes be given to ye Almighty) doe make and ordeine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to say.

First and principally I commend my soul into ye hands of Almighty God my Creator assuredly trusting through his mercies and ye merits of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer to enjoy everlasting life. And my body I dispose of to be interred in my chancell within ye parish church of Lympsfeiid in ye countie of Surrey aforesaid.

And as touching such worldly wealth wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to blesse me in this life I dispose thereof as it followeth (that is to say) as to and concerning all and singular ye goods chattels and personall estate whereof I shall be possessed at ye time of my decease I give demise and bequeath unto Sr Marmaduke Gresham and to Henry Wight Esq' my sonns (whom I doe hereby make constitute and ordaine executors of this my last Will and Testament) and their assignes upon trust y by and out of ye moneyes raysed by sale thereof they should satisfie and pay (after ye disbursements and charges of my funerall first satisfied and discharged) all such summe and summs of money and debts as I shall owe to any person or persons at ye time of my decease.

It I give to ye poore of ye parish of Lymsfield and to ye poore of ye parish of Betchworth in the foresaid Countie of Surrey five pounds apeice to be distributed at y discretion of my executors and of ye ministers of each respective parish. It. I give And to his To to my brother Richard Campion ten pounds to Abraham and Isaac sons Abraham & Campion ye sons of my brother Henry five pounds a peice. To Mr. John Campion 5 Larkin five pounds and to my servants twenty pounds to be divided poundes a pose. amongst them as my saide executor shall thinke fitting. It I will and ordeine y' all such charges as ye said Sr Marmaduke Gresham and Henry Wight Esq. shall any wayes disburse about yo proving and executing this my last Will and Testament they shall pay themselves out of such estate as I shall lave behind me at ye time of my decease. The rest and residue of all and singular my goods chattells debts I freely give and bequeath unto my severall children S Marmaduke Gresham Henry Wight Elizabeth Oldfield Ellen Maplesden and Anne Campion to be equally and impartially distributed amongst them within six moneths after my decease.

SIR MARMAPUKK GRYSHAM B. 15.3.

In the name of God. Amen. I. Sir Marmaduke Gresham of Titser in the County of Surrey Raronets hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me alrekjy made de make and ordain this my lase Will and Testament in

manner and form following. Imprimis my Will is that my Executors and Trustees hereafter named doe out of my personal estate goods chattles and such Debts as shall be owing unto me at the time of my decease and out of the Rents, Issues and profits and moneys arising by the sale or otherwise of the Mannor Lands Tenements and Hereditaments hereafter to them devised, satisfie and pay all my just debts together with the several and respective porcions and sums of money and yearly sums hereby given to the persons and in such manner as is hereinafter specified and expressed.

Item I give unto my daughter Alice Gresham my Yellow Damask Bed standing in the Gallery Chamber of my house at Titsey aforesaid together with the furniture Chairs Stools and appurtenances thereunto belonging and also one Suit of my best Damask Linnen which she shall choose and also my two Silver Salvers.

Item I give unto John Campion Rector of Limpsfield in the County of Surrey and his heirs one Annuity yearly Rent or Sum of Twenty pounds to be issuing and going out of and charged on all that Messuage Tenement and farme now or late in the tenure or occupacion of John Walklin or his Assigns which said farm is parcell of the Mannor of Tatsfield Co. Surrey. To have and to hold the said Annuity to him the said John Campion and his heirs for and during the term of the natural life of my said daughter Alice Gresham and to be paid to him and his heirs by equal half yearly payments without deduction or abatement of any part for or by reason of any taxes, Assessments or Impositions ordinary or extraordinary.

Item I give to my said daughter Alice Gresham the sum of five hundred pounds to be paid within six months after my decease to her or her Executors or Administrators by moneys to be raised out of the Rents Issues and profits of my said Mannor of Tatsfield or by sale or other disposition thereof. Item I give unto my Son William Gresham the sum of Twelve hundred pounds of lawful English Money to be paid him together with the interest thereof at the rate of six pounds per annum from the time of my decease until payment thereof.

Item I doe hereby give and devise unto my Son Charles Gresham and my said Daughter Alice Gresham and their heirs All that my Mannor of Broadham with the rights members and appurtenances thereof in the said County of Surrey, with all the Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments thereunto belonging or therewithall used and enjoyed as part or parcell thereof together with all my Right and Title in Law and Equity therein. And also all that the Rectory and Parsonage of Stongrave or Eatonbridge in the County of Kent with all the Tyths Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments thereunto belonging. And also all that Farm and those lands called or known by the name of Lusted Farm with the appurtenances scituate lying and being in the said Countys of Kent and Surrey. And also all that the Mannor of Tatsfield with the Rights Members and appurtenances thereof in the County of Surrey. And also all those several pieces or parcells of land and Woodlands the greatest part whereof is converted into arable meadow and pasture commonly called Wett Wood containing by estimacion fifty acres more or less, and two parcells of Meadow or pasture land called Coppins Hearth and Coppins Mead containing by estimacion eight acres more or less, lying between the said lands called Wett Wood and a Coppice called Marles Wood lying and being in Tatsfield Co. Surrey. And also all that parcell of laud commonly called Lords Mead now divided into three several parcels containing by estimacion twenty acres more or less lying and being in Tatsfield aforesaid. And all those two parcells of pasture ground called or known by the name of Longlands containing twenty acres, and all that parcell of Land and Wood ground known by the name of Row Tie containing seventeen acres and a half whereof fifteen acres at the least are Coppice Wood. And also all that Coppice Wood known by the name of Cubitts alias Kippers Coppice containing six acres. And all that parcell of Woodland or Coppice Ground commonly called Marles Wood containing eight and thirty acres and all that parcell of Woodland or Coppice called Frith Wood containing eight and twenty acres lying and being in Tatsfield aforesaid, to have and to hold unto them the said Charles and Alice Gresham their heirs and assigns for ever upon the trusts and confidences nevertheless and to the intents and purposes hereafter
