With regard to the legal profession to which we be long, it must he confessed that that latitude for the dis play of the graces of oratory which usually so greatly commend the writer and the speaker, can scarcely be expected in a commercial community where the Court is not an arena for rivalry in such matters, but the oh ject of the advocate is to make a clear, logical state ment of his case, and in the fewest and plainest words to conclude his argument - to gain his suit - and to pocket his fee.
