The first report covered the second quarter 1955 and provided a detailed analysis of the results. Reports will be issued quarterly in Series H-111) The available vacancy rate for the United States for the third quarter 1955 at 2.3 percent showed no change from the rate for the second quarter, according to the results of sample surveys conducted by the Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce.1 The "for rent" portion was 1.8 percent of all dwelling units, and the "for sale" portion was 0.5 percent. An available vacant dwelling unit is a unit which is intended for year-round occupancy, is not dilapidated, and is offered for rent or sale. Year-round vacant: Dilapidated1. Seasonal1 ....
