that the fame will be paid, at a Place to be mentioned in fuch Notice, at the Expiration of Six Calendar Months from the Day of giving or leaving fuch Notice as aforefaid, and the Intereft of the Principal Money fo to be paid off, fhall from and after the End of the faid Six Calendar Months, cease, and be no longer paid or payable: Provided nevertheless, that the Bonds which fhall bear the highest Rate of Intereft fhall be first paid off.

XLIV. Provided always, and be it further enact- Places exed and declared, That none of the Powers or Pro- empted from the Provifions vifions contained in this Act, relating to the paving, of the A&t for repairing, cleansing, or lighting any Street or other paving, publick Paffage or Place, or removing or prevent- cleaning, and ing Nuifances or Annoyances therein, or the making lighting. or collecting of any Rate for any of those Purposes, fhall extend to Berkeley Square or Grofvenor Square,

or to fuch Parts of the Streets or other Places adjoining or lying near to the faid refpective Squares, as are directed to be paved, cleansed, and lighted by Two feveral Acts of Parliament of the Sixth and Fourteenth Years of the Reign of His present Majefty, or to fuch Part of Piccadilly as lies between Repealed by Clarges Street and Hyde Park Corner, or to fuch 53 Geo. 3. Part of Park Lane as lies between Piccadilly and ch.38.6. the North Side of Hertford Street, or to any Part Vid. pa. 126. of Oxford Street, or to fuch Part of any Street or Place as adjoins to any of the Corner Houses or other Premises fituate in or adjoining to Oxford Street.

XLV. Annoyances to be removed.

shall authorize or empower the Commiffioners appointed by or in pursuance of the fame Act, to rate or affefs, or to collect or levy any Rate for or in refpect of a certain Dwelling House, Court Yard, and Premises, belonging to the Right Honourable Thomas Lord Camelford, fituate South of Hereford Street, (except the Offices, Stables, and Coach Houses), but that the fame fhall be rated, by virtue of this Act, towards paving, cleanfing, and lighting the Streets and other publick Paffages and Places within the Parish of Saint George Hanover Square, in like Manner as they would have been in case the faid Act of the Tenth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty had not been made.

XLVI. And be it further enacted, That the faid Committee of Paving are hereby authorized and empowered to caufe any Bars or Chains to be placed and continued across certain Streets within the faid Parish, called Maddox Street and Mill Street, for One Hour before, and until the Expiration of One Hour after, the Time of Divine Service, within the Church of the faid Parish, upon every Sunday, Christmas Day, and Good Friday, for preventing the Paffage of Coaches and other Carriages along the faid Streets.

XLVII And be it further enacted, That all Signs in any of the faid Streets and other publick Paffages and Places fhall be placed and fixed flat upon or against the Front Walls of the Houses or other Buildings to which they belong; and that all the Water which fhall come from the Roofs, Cornices, and Pent-houses of all Houses or other Buildings, within the faid Streets and other publick Paffages and Places, fhall be conveyed by proper and fufficient Pipes or Trunks, to be fixed on the Fronts

or Sides of fuch Houfes or other Buildings by the Owners or Occupiers thereof; and that no Incroachment or Annoyance whatfoever fhall be made, or fuffered to remain in any of the faid Streets or other publick Paffages and Places; and in cafe the Owner or Occupier of any House or other Building within any of the faid Streets or other publick Paffages and Places, fhall caufe any Incroachment or Annoyance whatsoever, either by Signs, Sign Irons, Sign Pofts, Spouts, Gutters, Steps, or Cellar Windows, or by fuffering the Area of any Houfe or other Building to remain open, or the Palisadoes, Fences, or Railing, to be fo much out of Repair as to be dangerous to Paffengers, the faid Committee may, by Notice in Writing, under the Hand of their Clerk, to be left at the Dwelling Houfe of the Owner or Occupier of fuch Houfe or other Building, order fuch Incroachment or Annoyance to be removed or altered, or fuch Palifadoes, Fences, or Railing, to be repaired, within fuch Time and in fuch Manner as fhall be expreffed in fuch Notice; and if fuch Owner or Occupier fhall not, at his own Expence, caufe the fame to be done within the Time and in the Manner to be expreffed in fuch Notice, it fhall be lawful for the faid Committee to cause all fuch Incroachments and Annoyances to be removed or altered, and fuch Palisado, Fence, or Railing, to be fet up, amended, or repaired, in fuch Manner as they fhall think proper, and the Charges and Expences attending the same shall be borne and paid by the Owner or Occupier of every fuch Houfe or other Building, without Prejudice to any Right which the faid Owner or Occupier may refpectively have to recover from each other the Sum fo paid.

XLVIII. And be it further enacted, That if any placing An- Perfon fhall, within Hanover Square, beat or duft in the Streets. any Carpet, or stand and ply with any Hackney Coach for a Fare, or drive any Carriage for the Purpose of breaking Horses, or ride any Horse for the Purpose of exercifing or airing fuch Horse (otherwise than by paffing through the faid Square), or if any Perfon fhall, in or upon any of the Carriage or Foot Ways in the faid Square, or within any of the Streets or other publick Paffages and Places aforefaid, place or lay, or caufe, permit, or fuffer to be placed or laid any Ashes, Rubbish, Dirt, or other Annoyance, or any Stall, Board, Basket, Wares, Merchandize, Cafks, or Goods of any Kind, or hoop, wash, or cleanse any Pipe, Barrel, Cafk, or Veffel, or drive or place, or cause to be driven or placed, any Coach, Cart, Waggon, Dray, or other Carriage upon any of the faid Carriage Ways, fo as to occafion any Obftruction or Annoyance, or upon any of the faid Foot Ways (except for fuch Time as fhall be reasonable or neceffary for washing fuch Carriages, where they have heretofore been ufually washed upon the Foot Ways), and shall not immediately remove the fame when required fo to do by any Perfon whomfoever; or if any Perfon fhall run, drive, or draw, or caufe to be run, driven, or drawn, any Wheel, Sledge, or Wheelbarrow upon any of the faid Footways, or fhall fet or place any Carriage upon the Foot Croffing within the faid Square, or within any of the faid Streets or other publick Paffages or Places, for the Purpose of loading or unloading thereof, and continue the fame for a longer Time than fhall be neceffary for that Purpose, or fhall fet or place any Horfe, Mule, Afs, or any other Cattle, upon any of the faid Foot Ways, or fhall fift, fcreen, or

XLIX. And be it further enacted, That no Sca- Scavengers venger or other Perfon employed in cleanfing any not to fweep of the faid Streets and other publick Paffages and within a cerPlaces, fhall fweep, rake, or place any Dirt, Duft, tain Distance Rubbish, Ashes, or other Thing, into any Common of the ComSewer or Drain, but fhall place, fweep, or rake the mon Sewers. fame together, fo as to lie at the Distance of Ten Feet at the leaft from any Grate placed over any Common Sewer or Drain, and at the Distance of Three Feet from the Channel where the Street or other publick Paffage or Place is of fufficient Width to admit thereof; and that no Perfon, other than No Cinders, the Scavengers employed by the faid Committee, &c. to be carried away but shall collect, take, or carry away any Cinders, Afhes, by the Scaor Duft, from any of the Inhabitants of the faid vengers, exStreets or other publick Paffages or Places, upon Pain of forfeiting for every fuch Offence not exceeding Ten Shillings; provided, that if the Perfon or Perfons who fhall go about to collect Penalties fuch Cinders, Afhes, or Duft, cannot be appre- increafed by 53 Geo. 3. hended, the Owner of the Cart employed therein ch. 38. f. 31. fhall be liable to pay, and fhall pay the faid Penalty: Vid. pa. 146.
