fend Greeting: Whereas by an A&t of Parliament made and paffed in the Sixth Year of His present Majefty's Reign, intituled An Act for rebuilding the Parish Church of St. Martin in the Fields, in the City of Westminster, at the Charge of the Inhabitants of the faid Parish; thereby reciting, That the Commiffioners for erecting Fifty New Churches in and about the City of London and Weftminster, pursuant to several Statutes in that Behalf made and provided, had appointed and intended One of the faid Fifty New Churches to be erected in One of the Out Wards of the faid Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields; it is, amongst other Things, thereby enacted and declared, that the feveral Parts and Divifions of the faid Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields, called The Two Out Wards (except fuch Part thereof as is inclosed within His Majefty's Park called St. James's Park) fhould, from and immediately after Eafter-day which fhould be in the Year of our Lord One thoufand feven hundred twenty and four, or, in cafe fuch Church fhould not be fo foon erected and confecrated, then from and immediately after Eafter-day next enfuing the Confecration thereof, fhould be deemed and taken to be of itself a diftinct Parish to all Intents and Purposes whatsoever; and from thenceforth the Inhabitants within the Diftrict and Limits of fuch New Parish should be the Parishioners thereof, and be divided and separated from the faid Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields, as to their Veftry and Parish Officers, and Rates for the Church and Relief of the Poor, Highways, and other Parish Rates within the Limits thereof; and fhould be divided and exempt from the faid Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields, and from bearing any Offices or Charges therein, and from all Dependencies and Contributions in respect thereof; and such Division

of the faid Parish as thereby made, fhould be perpetual, and, to all Intents and Purposes, as effectual, and be deemed and taken to be within the Intent and Meaning of the feveral Statutes relating to the faid Fifty New Churches, in fuch and the fame Manner as if the fame had been subsequent to the Confecration of the faid New Church there intended to be erected as aforefaid, and had been made by the faid Commiffioners for Churches, with the Consent of the Vicar, Churchwardens, and Overfeers of the Poor, of the said Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields, and of their Ordinary, by Inftrument or Writing under their Hands and Seals, and had been in all other Refpects made in purfuance of the Statutes in that Behalf then lately made and provided, as in and by the faid last mentioned Act of Parliament, relation being thereunto had, may appear: And whereas the faid Edmund Lord Bishop of London, Ordinary of the Diocese and Place wherein the faid Church doth stand, did, on Thursday the Eighteenth Day of March. last past before the Date hereof, duly confecrate the faid Church; and in the Act of Confecration thereof called the fame by the Name of The Church of St. George Hanover Square in the County of Middlefex, as by the faid Act of Confecration, remaining in the Chancellor's Court of the faid Lord Bishop of London, may appear; and by the Means aforefaid, and by force and virtue of the faid Act of Parliament, or fome One of them, the faid Church is become a Parish Church, and the District allotted for the faid Parish is become a New Parifh, by the Name of The Church and Parish of St. George Hanover Square in the County of Middlesex.

Now know ye, That the faid Commiffioners whofe Hands and Seals are hereto affixed, being

Five or more of the faid Commiffioners (by virtue and in pursuance of the Powers and Authorities given by the faid Letters Patent, and the said Acts of Parliament) fome or One of them, have nominated and elected, and by and with the Consent of the faid Edmund Lord Bishop of London, Ordinary of the faid Place, teftified by the figning and fealing hereof, do by this prefent Inftrument in Writing, under their Hands and Seals, intended to be inrolled in the faid Court of Chancery, nominate, elect, and appoint, the Moft Noble William Duke of Devonshire, the Moft Noble Evelyn Duke of King fton, the Moft Noble Charles Duke of Grafton, the Moft Noble Charles Duke of Bolton, the Most Noble James Duke of Montrose, the Moft Noble John Duke of Roxburgh, the Moft Noble William Duke of Manchester, the Right Hon. Church for the Time being, being fufficient Inhabitants of the faid New Parish, and a convenient Number of the fame, to be Veftrymen of and for the faid New Parish of St. George Hanover Square, in the County of Middlefex; and do appoint the Number of the Perfons whereof the faid Veftry fhall confift, fhall not at any Time exceed One Hundred, befides the Rector and Churchwardens for the Time being, who shall always be of the faid Veftry during their Continuance in fuch Office refpectively. In Witnefs whereof the faid Commiffioners above named, Five or more of them, have hereunto fet their Hands and Seals the Fifth Day of June, in the Eleventh Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c.
