A Certificate of a Mortgage being paid off.

Obs. A certificate of this kind, which is required by the Registry Acts, must be on unstamped parchment, and signed (not sealed) by the mortgagor and mortgagee in the presence of two witnesses, who must prove upon oath, before the registrar or his deputy, the signing of the same. And if the witnesses are not present at the payment of the money, the mortgagor and mortgagee must acknowledge it to be satisfied. The certificate is then to be filed by the registrar, to remain on record.
