CHAPTER I

SOME OPPORTUNITIES OF THE REAL
ESTATE BUSINESS

BY BLAKE SNYDER

With the growth of cities and towns and the extension of farming areas have come both time and opportunity for observation and inquiry into the influences at work, from decade to decade, in the building up of communities and their effect on real estate.

The splendid business buildings of today and the equally attractive developments that are evident everywhere in the real estate field, are the achievements of individuals who have undertaken to study real estate administration and have had. the courage to put their plans into tangible form. The projects that are successful are the result of a close cooperation in the planning and the management, by those who have become versed in the principles which govern real estate development.

When anyone sets out to solve a real estate problem, he starts upon a voyage of discovery. Sometimes success is easily attained, but always a high degree of foresight and faith is required. In general, however, an accurate assembling of facts, previous experience, and common sense are the guides to the accomplishment of one's purpose. Indeed, some feel that real estate administration can be reduced to an exact science with a higher chance of success than is possible in any other conservative business.
