John Brown, an engineer, was fatally injured near Weir's Hill, while attempting to tighten machinery while the engine was in motion, on the 26th day of June, 1870, and died in the city hospital, Brooklyn, on the 6th day of July, 1870. Verdict on inquest: Accidental death from injuries from engine, on Brooklyn, Bath and Coney Island Railroad. No blame attached to company or employes.
