COST OF ROAD.

The cost of the road was about $600,000. A large part of the work was done under contract for a gross sum, such work embracing all the grading, fencing, masonry, bridging, etc.;

said contract having been abandoned by the contractors before its completion, thereby leaving disputed claims, so that is difficult to give the amount in exact terms for each portion of the work.

This road has no equipments. It has been operated since its completion by the Delaware and Hudson Canal Company, in compliance with a perpetual lease, bearing date July 15, 1868, between our company and the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad Company; said lease having been adopted by the said Delaware and Hudson Canal Company.
