FIRST PLAN.

For raising the cables twenty feet higher than at present, at each end of the bridge, and giving a clear headway over the channel of 104.81 feet above the level of the gauge at Wheeling.

Estimate.

Taking down the old cables and putting them
up again,

Repairing and repainting cables,

Replacing fastening bolts which can not be remov-
ed, and other extra work about the same,
4,000 lbs. of iron, lengthening cables and sus-
penders,

Taking down and replacing the wood plat-
form, equivalent to 200,000 feet board
