ARTICLE XXIV.

OF PRIVILEGES OF FIREMEN.

SECTION 1. Each member of the fire department, or an engine, hook-and-ladder, bucket, or hose company, duly organized by the board of trustees, shall be exempt from polltax, and shall also be excused from serving on jury.

ARTICLE XXV.

OF THE POWER TO BORROW MONEY.

SECTION 1. The board of trustees of said village shall have power to borrow money for public improvements, on the credit of said village, not exceeding five thousand dollars in any one year: Provided, Consent of a majority of the electors be obtained, as provided for in section five, article twelve, of this act.

OF THE EATON COUNTY JAIL.

SECTION 1. The corporation shall be allowed the use of the jail. common jail of the county of Eaton for the imprisonment of any person liable to imprisonment under the provisions of this act, or of any by-law, rule, regulation, or ordinance passed by virtue thereof; and all persons so committed to said jail shall be under the charge of the sheriff as in other cases: Provided. The said county of Eaton shall in no manner be chargeable with the cost and expenses of such imprisonment in civil cases.

AN ACT to enlarge the corporate limits of the village of
Buchanan.

SECTION 1. The People of the State of Michigan enact, That
all the following described tract of land situate in the county
of Berrien, and State of Michigan, being in township number
seven south, of range number eighteen west, to wit: The
southeast quarter of the northwest quarter of section thirty-
five; the east half of the northwest quarter of section thirty-
six; the south half of the northwest quarter of section
twenty-five; the south half of the northeast quarter of sec-
tion twenty-six; the northeast quarter of the southwest
quarter of section twenty-six; and the west thirty acres of the
northwest quarter of the southeast quarter of section twenty-
six, be and the same is hereby attached to and incorporated
into the corporate limits of the village of Buchanan.
Sec. 2. This act shall take immediate effect.

SECTION. 1. Sec. 3.
