In the June Owl our kinsmen will have the pleasure of becoming better acquainted with our new president, Herbert Wing, Jr., of Carlisle, Penn. Read carefully his message to you. Now is the time to prepare to help him strenghten our organization making it a perfect whole.

Reunion in 1927

Five years after their arrival in this country, the progenitors of the present day Wings settled in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Because of the fact and the charm which the Cape Cod town has for those who visit there, the Directors of the Wing Family of America, Incorporated, voted at the reunion in 1926 to make arrangements, if possible, to have another meeting in 1927 in "the home of our fathers." The time tentatively set was the third week in August, to avoid conflict with the annual reunion of the Maine Wings. Since circumstances may make the particular date unwise, final announcement will be made in the June Owl. In the mean

time, all the Wings will do well to plan to go to Sandwich town in the vacation time and meet their kinsfolk and see the places hallowed by the memories of nearly three centuries of family associations.

The president has asked the following to act as the committee on local arrangements: Alvin P. Wing, chairman; Rufus Lasker Sisson; George Homer Wing; Caroline E. Wing Parker; Asa S. Wing; Herbert Wing, Sr.; Laura Soule Wing; Eliza L. Wing; Jessie Wing White; George Wing Sisson; and Frank E. Wing.

to

Although it is too early to make even a hasty forecast of a definite program, some suggestions that have come the Fresident may be worth printing, in the hope that they will stimulate others. The descendants of Daniel and Stephen, who were the younger brothers that settled in Sandwich, will of course find many interesting places in the town itself; but they may also find attractive a plan to take their automobiles and visit the towns along the northern shore of Buzzards Bay, Wareham, Marion, Old Dartmouth with its many divisions, and

see the regions where the third generation of their forebears settled.

To those who make this comparatively short trip, the beautiful buildings erected in Fairhaven by the late Henry H. Rogers will be of interest, as well as New Bedford, the great whaling port of an older generation, and its unusual collections that suggest the famous moving picture "Down to the Sea Ships".

The sons of John will possibly wish to turn their cars in the opposite direction "Down the Cape" and visit Yarmouth where the oldest of the brothers made his home. Then some will go on to quaint old Provincetown, once the home of sailors, and now nearly as well known for the Bohemian group that makes it almost a colony of Washington Square, New York.

Others too will visit Woods Hole with its laboratories of sea life, or cross over to the islands of "the Vineyard" and Nantucket. If the longer trips seem too extensive, a short drive to Pocasset and Wing's Neck will bring the traveller into still another neighborhood abounding in scenes associated with generations of the family.

Kinsmen, let us all plan to meet in the Old Bay State this summer and renew our associations. The friends we make and the friendships we renew are priceless. The Wing Family of America. is your family. On you will depend the question whether it will maintain its record as a group of people proud of their forebears and earnest in the desire to "carry on". Come to Sandwich!
