To amend an act entitled “an act to incorpo

rate the village of Southport." Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives

of the Territory of Wisconsin: Limits of vil. Section 1. The corporate limits of the village of South. lage.

port, shall hereafter include and embrace the district of country following: The southeast quarter of section thirty; fractional section thirty-two, the southeast quarter of the northwest quarter of section thirty-one, the east half of the southwest quarter of section thirty-one, and the east half of section thirty-one, in township two, north of range twenty-three east, and also the north half of fractional section five, the east half of the northeast quarter of section six, the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter of section six, and ihe northeast quarter of :he northwest quarter of section six, in township one, north of range twenty-three east.

Sec 2. The said village shall be divided into three wards. How village as follows: The first ward shall include all that district of divià ed into waris. country within the following bounds, commencing on the

lake shore, at the mouth of Pike creek, thence up the center of the main channel of said creek to the quarter section line, at the bridge west of the Congregational church, thence west on the said quarier section line to the western limits of the corporation, thence south along the western limits of the corporation until it intersects a line drawn through the southeast and southwest corners of the first western addition to said village, thence east along said last mentioned line to the southeast corner of said addition, thence north to a point of intersection with the center of Wisconsin street extending westwardly, thence east along the center of said Wisconsin street to the lake shore, thence along the lake shore to the place of beginning. The second ward shall include all the

corporate territory of said village lying north of the first ward, and the third ward shall include all the corporate territory of said village lying south of the first ward.

Sec. 3. In addition to the persons now qualified by law, every male resident of said village, of foreign birth, of the Whio qualited age of twenty-one years and upwards, who shall have declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States pursuant to the laws thereof on the subject of naturalization, shall be a qualified elector of said village: Provided, that no person shall be entitled to vote for village officers, who has not resided in said village for the period of thirty days next preceding any election.

Sec. 4. The president, recorder, marshal, and treasurer Oficers to be of said village shall be elected by the qualified electors there-clected. of. Sec. 6. In case of a vacancy in the office of president or trustees of said village, the recorder shall give notice of an How vacanelection as now prescribed by law, to fill such vacancy. Sec. 7. The president and recorder shall have power to

call special meetings of the board of trustees whenever, in

to vacate streets and alleys in said village upon petition of
a majority of the persons owning lots adjoining said street
or alley: Provided, that if any person shall feel himself ag-
grieved thereby, he shall have the right to a jury to assess
the damages and benefits which shall be sustained or accrue
to any person by reason thereof, in the manner provided in
the tenth section of the act to which this act is amendatory,
and the damages and benefits shall be collected and paid as
required by said section.
