Smith, for his salary from July 1st, 1815, to Febru ary 4th, 1846, one hundred seventy-seven dollars and forty-six cents: Also, for clerk during present session of the Legislature, thirty days, forty-five dollars: Also, for clerk during session of the Supreme Court, 1845, twenty one days, at one dollar and fifty cents per day, as provided by law, thirty-one dollars and fifty cents: Also, to services and expenses to Milwaukee to purchase stationery and other articles, twenty-eight dollars and fifty cents. To Charles H. Larkin, forty-eight dollars for sixteen days writing for the Legislative Assembly, at its present session.

To Cyrus P. Hiller, for writing for the Legislative Assembly, sixteen dollars.

To W. W. Wyman, for newspapers furnished the members of the Assembly, during the present session, seventy-three dollars and four cents.

To William D. Wilson, for newspapers furnished the members of the Assembly during the present session, fifteen dollars [and] sixty cents.

To Richard T. Davis, for three days services making fires at the commencement of the present session, nine dollars.

To J. Doran Jenkins, for writing for the Legislative Assembly, fifteen dollars.

To Cyrus P. Hiller, the sum of twenty-one dollars for writing done for the Legislative Assembly.

To O. S. Dunham, for two dozen chairs for the Legislative Halls and committee rooms, thirty-six dollars.

To John Y. Smith, for subscription to the Law Library, for 1845, for the use of the Territorial Library, ten dollars.

To Joseph G. Knapp, for writing done for the present session of the Legislative Assembly, three dollars.

To John Ramsdell, for writing done for the present session of the Legislative Assembly, thirty dollars.

To Thomas McHugh, for writing done for the present session of the Legislative Assembly, thirty dollars.

To Simeon Mills, for printing done for the House of Representatives, the three last days of the session, seventeen dollars and ninety-six cents.

SEC. 2. That the balance of the fund appropriated by Congress for the payment of the expenses of the Legislative Assem bly for the current year, which may remain after deducting from

such fund the per diem and mileage of the members, the pay of officers and other incidental expenses provided for in this act, be and the said balance is hereby appropriated to be expended under the direction of the Superintendent of Territorial Property, in the purchase of books for the library of the Territory: Provided, That the first books to be purchased shall be such volumes of reports as may be necessary to continue and complete the sette which have been heretofore purchased and are now belonging to the library.

JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

JOINT RESOLUTION instructing the Attorney General to collect certain delinquent taxes.

RESOLVED by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That the Attorney General be instructed to ascertain the amount of delinquent territorial taxes due from the several counties in the Territory, assessed prior to the year 1845; and that hơ be directed to take such measures for the collection of the same as he shall think proper, paying all moneys which he may so col lect, into the Treasury of the Territory.

JOINT RESOLUTION instructing the Superintendent of Territorial Property to perform certain duties.

RESOLVED, by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That the Superintendent of Territorial property be directed, in case the people at the next April election decide to form a state

government, to remove the partition between the Council cham ber and the Secretary rooms, to re-plaster the ceiling of said cham ber and otherwise appropriately fit it up, to procure necessary supply of desks and seats for the members of the convention, and also a requisite supply of stationery for their use.

Resolved, That from and after the present session of the Legislative Assembly, should the partitions between the Council chamber and Secretary's room be removed as contemplated by the foregoing resolution, the Council chamber shall thereafter be known as the Hall of the House of Representatives and the pres ent Representative's Hall known as the Council chamber. APPROVED February 3rd, 1846.

JOINT RESOLUTION in relation to canal funds.

RESOLVED by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

That the receiver of the canal lands shall pay over to the treas urer of the Territory all moneys which may arise from any sale of the canal lands except the sun which shall be required to defray the expenses of the sale, and the said treasurer is hereby authorized to receive the same; and the said treasurer of the Territory of Wisconsin is hereby required to execute to the Governor of the Territory and his successors in office, for the use of the Ter ritory or future State of Wisconsin, a bond in the penal sum of fifty thousand dollars to be approved by the Governor, conditioned for the faithful discharge of his duties as treasurer.

Resolved, That the money thus received into the treasury of the Territory shall be liable for all debts due from said Territory, and the said treasurer is hereby authorized to pay and discharge the same in the same manner and for the same purposes as ang bther money in said treasury.
