2 Saying, The scribes and the
Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
d 3 All therefore whatsoever they
bid you observe, that observe and
do: but do not ye after their works:
for they say, and do not.

4 For they bind heavy burdens, and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

c 5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

w 15 Wo unto you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye com-
pass sea and land to make one pro-
selyte; and when he is made, ye
make him two-fold more the child
of hell than yourselves.

w 16 Wo unto you, ye blind guides,
which say, Whosoever shall swear
by the temple, it is nothing; but
whosoever shall swear by the gold
of the temple, he is a debtor.
w 17 Ye fools, and blind! for whe-
ther is greater, the gold, or the
temple that sanctifieth the gold?

18 And whosoever shall swear
by the altar, it is nothing; but
whosoever sweareth by the gift
that is upon it, he is guilty.
w 19 Ye fools, and blind! for whe-
ther is greater, the gift, or the
altar that sanctifieth the gift?

20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. 8 But be not ye called Rabbit 22 And he that shall swear by for one is your Master, even Christ; heaven, sweareth by the throne of, and all ye are brethren. God, and by him that sitteth

9 And call no man your father thereon. upon the earth: for one is your Father which is in heaven.

10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. d 11 But he that is greatest among you, shall be your servant.

t 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself, shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself, shall be exalted.

w 13 But wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering, to go in.

w 23 Wo unto you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay
tithe of mint, and anise, and cum-
min, and have omitted the weigh-
tier matters of the law, judgment,
mercy, and faith: these ought ye
to have done, and not to leave the
other undone.

w 24 Ye blind guides, which strain
at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
w 25 Wo unto you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make
clean the outside of the cup and of
the platter, but within they are full
of extortion and excess.

d 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse

first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

w 27 Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

w 29 Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

w 33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

34 ¶ Wherefore behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye shall kill and crucify, and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zacharias, son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

under her wings and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Aparted from the temple: and

his disciples came tohim for to shew him the buildings of the temple. r 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. f31 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying. Tell us, when shall these things De? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? d 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

r 6 And ye shall hear of wars, and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

r 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

d 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand :)

d 16 Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the house-top not come down to take any thing out of his house :

is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days, shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken :

t 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

19 And wo unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath-day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

t 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

32 Now learn a parable of the fig-tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

t 23 T Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. f25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right that shall ye receive.

8 So when evening was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

t 27 ¶ Then answered Peter, and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 10 But when the first came, b 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye they supposed that they should which have followed me in the re- have received more; and they likegeneration, when the Son of man wise received every man a penny. shall sit in the throne of his glo- c 11 And when they had received ry, ye also shall sit upon twelve it, they murmured against the thrones, judging the twelve tribes good man of the house, of Israel.
