SUMMARY OF PROCEEDINGS.

The Association met at the Court House in Montpelier on October 27th, 1885 at 7:30 P. M., pursuant to notice, and adjourned without day on the 29th, at 3 o'clock, P. M.

The Association was called to order by President Walker, and the Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Papers were read by President Walker, Russell S. Taft, Timothy P. Redfield, Elisha May, Edwin F. Palmer and Frank Plumley. The same will be found herein. The thanks of the Association were voted those furnishing papers. On motion of Mr. Poland, a Committee of seven was appointed to nominate officers for the ensuing year. On motion of Mr. Heath, all those who had prepared papers to be read before the Association were requested to leave the same with the Secretary, for publication. The Treasurer, Hiram Carleton, presented his report, from which it appeared that the assets of the Association were $666.44. The Committee on Admissions submitted a report, recommending applicants for membership, all of whom were unanimously elected. The Committee on Jurisprudence and Law Reform, submitted their report. Adopted. The Committee on Legal History and Biography made a report, which was accepted. The Committee to nominate officers for the ensuing year presented their report, and the same was accepted and ordered to lie. Subsequently called up, and, after amendment, adopted. See list of officers for report. The Secretary was instructed to put himself in communication with the National and State Associations, and seek an exchange of Proceedings. He was fur

thur instructed to procure the binding of all the pamphlets now in his possession, and that any member of the Association who should forward his pamphlets to the Secretary should receive bound copies at the same rate as paid by the Association. The resolution relating to Mesne and Final Process, on motion of Mr. Harmon, was referred to a Committee of five. The President appointed as such Committee, Daniel Roberts, L. H. Thompson, J. C. Barrett, C. H. Pitkin and Ashton R. Willard. Mr. Dickey offered a resolution relating to the site selected for the proposed Library Building, and the same was, on motion, laid upon the table. The thanks of the Association were voted to President Walker. On motion of J. C. Barrett, the Committee on Admissions was instructed to invite all practicing attorneys to join the Association. The Secretary was instructed to present a copy of the report of the Committee on Jurisprudence and Law Reform to the Court. The President submitted his appointments for the Standing Committees.
