Souder, Philadelphia, was born in Philadelphia, March 12, 1832; educated in the public schools of Philadelphia; learned the business, and is at present an iron moulder; was packer in United States appraiser's store, 1868 to 1874; a member of the House of Representatives, sessions 1875-76.

George H. Spang, Bedford county, was born at Roaring Springs, Bedford (now Blair) county, Pa., February 16, 1830; educated at Marshall and Pennsylvania Colleges; graduated, 1852; studied law and admitted to practice, 1854; district attorney of Bedford county, 1854 to 1862; member of the House of Representatives, sessions of 1875 and 1876. Andrew G. Spears, Mercer county, was born at Lanarkshire, Scotland, May 3, 1840; educated at common schools; learned the business of mining, and is at present a merchant; was constable and tax collector of Hickory township, Mercer county, 1870.

Edward Henry Harrison Stackpole, Mifflin county, was born at McVeytown, Mifflin county, Pa., August 11, 1836; educated in the public schools; learned the trade and is at present a blacksmith; was a school director and member of the town council of McVeytown.

Jacob Lieber Steinmetz, Lancaster county, was born at Annville, Lebanon county, Pa., August 22, 1845; graduated at Michigan University; studied law, and is at present a lawyer.

Adam Stevens, York county, was born in Monroe township, Cumberland county, Pa., April 23, 1821; educated in a subscription school; learned the trade of tobacconist, and is at present a farmer; from 1849 to 1853, held the position of postmaster; justice of the peace of Newbury township, York county, from 1853 to 1863; has been Deputy United States marshal and Assistant United States assessor; a member of the House of Representatives, 1875-76.

John Q. Stewart, Lawrence county, was born in Lawrence county, Pa., September 23, 1844; educated at the public and normal schools; learned the profession of, and is at present a teacher; was a member of the House of Representatives, session of 1875-76.

J. Albert Stober, Lancaster county, was born in Lancaster county, Pa., January 20, 1842; educated at the common schools and Ephrata Academy; learned the surveying and mercantile business, and is at present engaged in the mercantile business, surveying and conveyancing; was justice of the peace in Lancaster county; a member of the House of Representatives, sessions of 1875-76.

Joseph A. Stone, Allegheny county, was born in England, May 2, 1841; educated in the common schools; learned the business of, and is at present a coal merchant.

Joseph Addison Summerville, Clarion county, was born in Franklin township, Armstrong county, Pa., January 4, 1833; educated at common schools and Freeport Academy; learned the profession of teacher; is at present a farmer and surveyor; was justice of the peace eight years, and secretary of school board ten years.

Aaron Chandler Tate, Clearfield county, was born in Lawrence township, Clearfield county, Pa., October 23, 1827; educated at common school; raised upon a farm; was township auditor two terms, treasurer one term, school director two terms, in Lawrence township; overseer of the poor, burgess, and school director in the borough of Clearfield; county auditor in 1856-7-8-9; prothonotary 1868 to 1875, deputy prothonatory 1875-6.

James J. Thomas, Cambria county, was born in Cambria county, Pa., October, 1838; educated at common and private schools; learned the profession of teacher, and is at present a farmer.

C. W. Tyler, Crawford county, was oorn in Montrose, Susquehanna county, March 4, 1838; educated at private schools; learned the art of printing; read law, and is at present an attorney-at-law; was U. S. assistant assessor of internal revenue 1865-6; published the Meadville Republican 1867 to '69, and Crawford Journal from 1869 to 72; served in the army from August, 1862, until close of the war in various grades, holding four separate commissions from the Governor of Pennsylvania.

James D. Walker, Allegheny county, was born in Allegheny City, Pa., June 6, 1846; educated at common schools and Commercial College; learned the business of bricklayer and book-keeper; is at present a contractor; is captain of Knapp's Battery.

Young Singleton Walter, Delaware county, was born in Philadelphia, August 11, 1811; educated in the common schools; learned the art of printing, and has been editor of the Delaware County Republican for forty-four years; was Inspector of Customs at Marcus Hook, 1845; member of councils of city of Chester, six years; president of council, two years.

Adam H. Weaver, Allegheny county, was born in Pittsburg, July 1, 1841; educated in the common schools; learned the trade and is at present a roller; was flour inspector of Allegheny county, 1873-4-5.

James F. Weaver, Centre county, was born near Bellefonte, Centre county, Pa., November 6, 1830; educated at public and private schools; learned the art of printing, and is now a farmer; was county treasurer, 1871; captain company

B. 148th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers; afterwards colonel of the regiment.

Lafayette Westbrook, Pike county, was born in Delaware, Pike county, Pa., December 15, 1828; educated at the Delaware Academy; learned land surveying, lumbering, milling, and farming; is at present engaged in the business of surveying, milling, lumbering, and farming; was county surveyor 1850 to 1856, and 1875-6; member of the House of Representatives, sessions of 1857-58, 1867-68.

Allen Scott Will, Somerset county, was born in Somerset county, Pa., March 4, 1828; educated in the common schools; raised upon a farm, and is at present a farmer; was school director nine years.

Decius H. Wilcox, Schuylkill county, was born in Harpersfield, Delaware county, N. Y., September 10, 1828; educated at public school; learned the profession of teaching, and is at present a farmer.

Morgan R. Wise, Greene county, was born in Greene county, Pa., June 7, 1830; graduated at Waynesburg College, 1855; is at present engaged in farming and general business; a member of the House of Representatives, sessions of 1875-6. Josephus Yeakel, Philadelphia, was born in Springfield township, Montgomery county, Pa., April 19, 1839; educated in the common schools; learned the art of printing, and is at present engaged in printing and publishing; a member of the House of Representatives, sessions of 1875-6. Peter Zern, Allegheny county, was born in Germany, in 1832; learned the trade of moulder; is at present a tobacconist; served six years in the councils of the city of Pittsburg; was a member of the House of Representatives, sessions of 1875 and '76.
