AFTERNOON.

The House proceeded to the order of the day upon the bill entitled "an act in addition to an act entitled an act to incorporate the Amoskeag Falls Bridge,"

Which was read a third time.

Resolved, that it pass and that its title be as aforesaid.

Ordered, that the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

The House proceeded in the order of the day upon the bill entitled "An act to render void all settlements gained prior to 1796, and to prevent litigation."

On motion of Mr. Wells

Ordered, that said bill be put upon its second reading for the purpose of amendment.

Mr. Wells moved that the bill be amended by striking out the words "to be paid out of the treasury of said county," in the 13th and 14th lines of the 2d section, and inserting the words following, to wit: "which said sum so allowed by said court shall be paid out of the treasury of the State, upon presenting to the State Treasurer a certificate of such allowance from the clerk of the Court."

On the question,

Shall the amendment be adopted?

It was decided in the negative.

The question recurring,

Shall the bill be read a third time?

Mr. Wells called for the ayes and noes.
