Mr. Hoit of Bridgewater, from the committee on Towns and Parishes, to whom was referred the petition of Jesse Tilton and others praying that a part of his farm be severed from the town of Albany and annexed to the town of Tamworth, made a report, Whereupon

Mr. Hoit of Bridgewater, from the same committee, to whom was referred the petition of Cyrus Merrifield praying that the farm on which he now resides be severed from the town of Richmond and annexed to the town of Troy, made a further report,

Mr. Baker of Hillsborough, from the committee on the Judiciary, who were instructed to inquire into the expediency of repealing the second section of an act entitled "An act to prevent fraud in cord wood exposed for sale," reported a bill entitled, "An act in amendment of an act entitled an act to prevent fraud in cord-wood exposed for sale, passed June 15, 1791."

Mr. Baker of Hillsborough, from the same committee to whom was referred the petition of George Griffin praying for the redemption of sundry notes issued by the colony of New Hampshire, in the years 1775 and 1776, made a further report,

Mr. Jenness of Deerfield, from the same committee, to whom was referred the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Iron Manufacturing Company in Columbia," made a further report, Whereupon

A message from the Senate by their Clerk:

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur with the House of Rep resentatives in the passage of a resolution appointing a joint select committee for the purpose of fixing upon a day on which the bu siness of the present session may be brought to a close, and have on their part, joined Mr. Brown.

Resolved, that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so amending the law regulating the right of suffrage passed July 4, 1838, as to provide that any person having a right to vote in any town or place within this State agreeably to said act, who shall remove to any other town or place within this State, shall have a right to vote in the town or place from which such person removed, for State and County officers, Representatives in Congress, and Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, until he shall acquire a new right to vote in the town or place to which he may have removed. On motion of Mr. Sawyer of Nashua

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Nashua Academy."

The question being on the adoption of the amendment to said bill proposed by Mr. St. Clair, which was that a section be added after the 4th section of said bill as follows:

"SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, that the private property of each individual member of said corporation shall be liable for the debts due from and liabilities of said corporation, and may be

attached on mesne process, and seized and sold on execution, in the same way and manner as property is now seized and sold for the private debts of individuals.

Mr. Quincy moved that the amendment be amended by inserting after the word "corporation" in the 5th line the words following-"to the amount of their respective shares."

On the question,

Shall the amendment to the amendment be adopted?

It was decided in the negative.

So the amendmenment to the amendment was rejected.

On motion of Mr. Spalding

Resolved, that the House are now ready to meet the Senate in Convention, for the purpose of proceeding in the elections agreeably to the laws of this State.

Resolved, that said report be accepted.

On motion of Mr. Baker of Hillsborough of the HouseResolved, that the subpoena served upon the town clerk of Northumberland, be referred to the joint select committee appointed to examine and count the returns of votes for Electors of President and Vice President, with instructions to report to the Convention the facts, if any exist, in excuse of the absence of said town clerk.

The Convention rose and the Senate withdrew.

IN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

On motion of Mr. Warner

Resolved, that a committee be appointed on the part of the House with such as the Senate may join, to give information to His Excellency the Governor that John W. Weeks, Stephen Perley, Samuel Hatch, Andrew Pierce, jr., John Scott, Francis Holbrook and Samuel Burns, are duly chosen Electors of President and Vice President of the United States.

Ordered, that Messrs. Warner, Chamberlain and Leavitt of Gilmanton be the committee.

Ordered, that the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

On motion of Mr. Woods

Resolved, that a committee be appointed on the part of the House with such as the Senate may join, to select some suitable place in which the Electors of President and Vice President may meet, and inform them thereof.

Ordered, that Messrs. Woods, Mason and Richardson be the committee.

Ordered, that the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

A message from the Senate by their Clerk:

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of a resolution appoiuting a committee to wait upon His Excellency the Governor and inform him of the election of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, and have on their part joined Mr. Pickering,"

Mr. Weeks of Canaan gave notice that he will on Tuesday next ask leave to introduce a bill to alter and establish the times and places of holding Courts of Probate in the county of Grafton.

Mr. Learned gave notice that he will to-morrow ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act in addition to an act entitled an act for laying out highways, passed July 3d, 1829."

Resolved, that the committeee on Banks be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by law that after the first day of March next no director of any bank in this State shall at any time be indebted to said bank, either as principal or surety, on any loan made by said bank, beyond fifty per cent. of the capital stock actually paid into said bank by said director, and report by bill or

otherwise.

Hall, Treadwell, Stickney, Stark, Morrill of Boscawen, McDaniel, McMillen, Page of Sutton, Batchelder of Marlborough, George, Ferrin and Ely of Littleton, as members of the select committee to take into consideration the expediency of districting the State' anew for the choice of Senators.
