Answered, that he had made a mistake both in his said record and return, by inserting therein "George Nesmith " instead of "George W. Nesmith," and "Samuel Patch" instead of "Samuel Hatch."

In reply to the question, whether any votes were cast or declared for "Samuel Patch" at the meeting held in said town of Temple on said first Monday of November instant for the choice of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, and if not how said name of Patch came to be entered upon the records of said town of Temple

He answered, that no such votes were cast or declared at said meeting, and he knew no reason why such votes were entered on

the record and return as aforesaid, except through haste and by mistake.

Timothy P. Turner, town clerk of the town of Bethlehem, be ing duly sworn, in reply to the question, whether he had made any mistake in making up the record of the votes cast in said town of Bethlehem, for Electors of President and Vice President of the United States on the first Monday of November instant, or whether he had made any mistake in the return of said votes, and if so, what that mistake was,

Answered, that he had no record of the meeting held in said town on said day, except some minutes made on a separate piece of paper at the time of said meeting, that he had not yet recorded" the proceedings of said meeting in his book of records, that the name of Amos Brewster appeared both in his minutes and in his return as having received 44 votes.

In reply to the question, whether he had any doubt that the

name upon the ballots thrown at said meeting was "Amós A. Brewster" instead of "Amos Brewster,"

He answered, that he had not.

Resolved, that said town clerk be permitted to amend or correct his record and return according to the facts within his knowledge. Said town clerk then made up his record and corrected his return accordingly, by inserting therein "Amos A. Brewster," instead of "Amos Brewster."

Chase, town clerk of the town of Bristol, having been duly sworn, in reply to the question whether he had made any mistake in making up the record of the votes cast in said town of Bristol, for Electors of President and Vice President of the United States on the first Monday of November instant, or whether he had made any mistake in his return of said votes, and if so, what that mistake was,

Answered, that he had made a mistake both in his said record and return, by inserting therein "John P. Weeks" instead of "John W. Weeks."

The town clerk of the town of Northumberland having been called by the chairman of the Convention, did not appear.

The Convention proceeded to read and record the returns of votes from the foregoing towns, as amended.

Ordered, that the returns from said towns as above amended together with the return from the town of Northumberland, be recommitted to the joint select committee to whom were referred the returns of votes for Electors of President and Vice President of the U. States.

The Convention proceeded to open, read and record the returns of votes for Electors of President and Vice President of the United States from the towns of Dalton and Society Land, and com pleted the same.

Ordered, that said returns from the towns of Dalton and Soci

ety Land be referred to said joint select committee, and that said committee be instructed to include said returns in their report. On motion of Mr. Gregg of the Senate

The Convention rose and the Senate withdrew.
