"An act constituting a committee on the Library."

The Senate have postponed to the next session of the Legislature, bills of the following titles, to wit:

"An act to incorporate the Portsmouth and Dover Railroad." "An act for the encouragement of Agriculture."

The Senate concur with the House in the passage of bills of the following titles, and the following resolutions, and address, to wit:

"An act providing for exemption in certain cases from military duty."

"An act to incorporate the Nashua Academy."

"An act to abolish imprisonment for debt."

"An act regulating the piling, hauling and removal of sea-weed and rock-weed."

"An act relating to railroad corporations."

"A resolution in favor of Jeremiah Elkins."

"An address in favor of the removal of certain officers." "An act in amendment of an act entitled an act to incorporate the Ashuelot Falls Manufacturing company, passed June 22,

1832."

"An act to alter the names of certain persons."

"A resolution in favor of Asa Fowler and others."

"A resolution in favor of George W. Dow and others."

"A resolution authorizing the Treasurer to borrow money on

the credit and for the use of the state."

"A resolution in favor of Robert Wallace and others."

"A resolution instructing the committee for revising the laws to report a code for the abolition of imprisonment for debt." The Senate have postponed to the next session of the Legisla ture a bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Piscataqua Asylum for the Insane.

The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of bills of the following titles to wit:

"An act allowing to the sixth company of Infantry in the thirteenth Regiment of the militia of this State an additional number of arms."

"An act in addition to and explanatory of an act relating to Railroad and other corporations, passed June 20, 1840."

The Senate have postponed indefinitely a bill entitled "An act in explanation of an act entitled an act to encourage the manufacture of leather, and to prevent frauds therein, passed July 3, 1829."

"The Senate concur with the House in the passage of bills of the following titles, to wit:

"An act to alter the name of the first Baptist Society in Portsmouth."

"An act establishing a new proportion for the assessment of the public taxes."

The Senate recede from their amendment to the bill entitled "An act in addition to an act entitled an act for the support and regulation of primary schools, passed July 6, 1827.”

The Senate concur with the House in the passage of the following resolutions, to wit:

"A resolution directing the printing of ten hundred printed copies of Dr. Jackson's first annual report."

"A resolution directing the State Librarian to furnish the commissioners appointed to revise, codify and amend the statute laws of the State, one copy of all such statutes as are now in force."

The Senate concur in the amendment made by the House of Representatives to the resolution fixing the day when the business of the present session may be brought to a close.

The Senate recede from their amendment to the resolution in favor of George P. Meserve and others, and concur with the House in the passage of the same with an amendment in which they ask the concurrence of the House."

The House proceeded to the consideration of the foregoing resolution in favor of George P. Meserve and others, with the amendment which came down from the Hon. Senate.

On motion of Mr. Warner

Resolved, that the House concur in said amendment.
Ordered, that the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.
On motion of Mr. Baker of Hillsborough-

The House resumed the consideration of the report and resolutions upon the subject of the controversy between the States of Maine and Georgia.

The question being upon the passage of said resolutions.
On motion of Mr. Treadwell-

Resolved, that the House take a recess until half past six

o'clock.

HALF PAST SIX O'CLOCK.

Mr. Weeks of Canaan submitted the following resolutions: Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened, that the Senators from this State in the Congress of the United States be instructed, and the Representatives requested to use all proper exertions to procure the passage of a law by Congress fixing the same day or days throughout the United States for the choice of Presidential Electors.

And be it further resolved, that the Secretary of State be required to transmit a certified copy of these resolutions to each Senator and Representative from this State in the Congress of

the United States.

Which were read

Resolved, that they pass.

Ordered, that the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

A message from the Senate by their Clerk:

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the passage of bills of the following titles, and the following resolution, to wit:

"An act to incorporate the Durham Academy.'

"An act to incorporate the Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance › Company."

"An act to incorporate the Amoskeag Fire Insurance Company."

"A resolution in favor of Atkinson Webster and others." "An act relating to the White River Falls Company and to establish the rates of toll of the same.'

"An act in addition to an act entitled an act to prevent incestuous marriages and to regulate divorces, and for the relief of married women and widows," with two several amendments, in in which they ask the concurrence of the House of Representatives."

The House proceeded to the consideration of the foregoing bill, with the amendments which came down from the Honorable Senate.

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the House concurred in the amendment.

On the question,

Will the House concur in the second of said amendments?

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the House concurred in the amendment.

Mr. Ela of Meredith, from the committee on Engrossed Bills, reported that they have carefully examined and find correctly engrossed bills of the following titles, and the following resolutions, and address, to wit:

"An act to alter the name of the first Baptist Society in Portsmouth."

"An act in addition to and in amendment of an act entitled an act for the support and regulation of primary schools, passed January 4, 1833."

"An act to raise sixty thousand dollars for the use of the State." "An act constituting a committee on the Library."

"An act in addition to an act entitled an act for the support and regulation of primary schools, passed July 6, 1827.”

"An act in amendment of an act entitled an act to incorporate the Ashuelot Falls Manufacturing Company, passed June 22, 1833."

"An act allowing to the sixth company of Infantry in the 18th regiment of the militia of this state an additional number of arms." "An act to alter the names of certain persons."

"An act in addition to and explanatory of an act relating to railroad and other corporations, passed June 20, 1840." "A resolution in favor of George W. Dow and others." Ordered, that the Clerk inform the Senate thereof. Mr. Dodge submitted the following resolution:

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened, that the Secretary of State be directed to procure the printing of the public acts and resolves passed at the present session of the Legislature in one of each of the political papers published in the several counties in this State.

It was moved that the resolution be indefinitely postponed. Mr. Baker of Hillsborough moved that the resolution lie on the table.

And the question being put,

The ayes and noes were called for.
