A message from the Senate by their Clerk:

"Mr. Speaker The Senate concur with the House of Rep resentatives in the passage of a resolution in favor of George P. Meserve and others, with an amendment, in which they ask the concurrence of the House.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the foregoing resolution with the amendment which came down from the Hon. Senate.

On motion of Mr. Wells

Ordered, that the resolution lie on the table.

A message from the Senate by their Clerk:

"Mr. Speaker-The Senate have passed a bill entitled "An act relating to railroad corporations," in which they ask the concurrence of the House."

The House proceeded to the consideration of the foregoing bill which came down from the Honorable Senate.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Treadwell moved that the bill be indefinitely postponed. And the question being put,

The ayes and noes were called for.

So the said bill was indefinitely postponed.

Ordered, that the Clerk inform the Senate thereof.

Mr. Woods of Henniker resigned his seat in this House.

Mr. St. Clair, from the select committee to whom was referred the bill entitled "An act to constitute the counties of Belknap and Carroll," a resolution directing them to inquire into the expediency of dividing the county of Strafford into two judicial districts, and the bill entitled "An act to district the county of Strafford for judicial purposes," reported a statement of facts, which was read, and a bill entitled "An act to constitute the counties of Belknap and Carroll."

Which was read a first time.

Mr. McDaniel moved that the bill be read a second time at the present time and referred to a select committee consisting of the delegation from the county of Strafford.

Mr. Quincy called for a division of the question.

On the question,

Shall said bill be read a second time at the present time?

It was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. McDaniel withdrew the second division of his motion.
Mr. St. Clair proposed an amendment to said bill.

And on the question,

Shall the amendment be adopted?

It was decided in the affirmative.

So the amendment was adopted.

Mr. McDaniel renewed his motion that said bill be referred to a select committee consisting of the delegation from the county of Strafford.

Mr. Copp moved that the bill lie on the table.

But before the question was taken,

Mr. Quincy presented the account of Samuel W. Simpson. Mr. Wells presented the account of H. Hibbard.

Ordered, that said accounts be referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Morrison, from the committee on the Judiciary, who were instructed to inquire into the expediency of amending the law in relation to the cost in advertising and selling the land of non-residents for taxes, made a report,

Whereupon

Resolved, that it is inexpedient to legislate upon the subject. Mr. Cate, from the committee on Military Affairs, to whom was referred the bill entitled "An act authorizing an increase of engine men in engine companies No. 2 and 4 in Concord," ported the same without amendment.

Ordered, that said bill be read a third time Monday afternoon at three o'clock.

Mr. Wells, from the committee on Banks, to whom were referred two resolutions instructing them to inquire into the expedi ency of limiting the indebtedness of Bank Directors, made a report,
