For a covenant fervant to a buckle-maker for four years, ARTICLES of AGREEMENT, indented, made and agreed upon the day of in the year of our Lord 1773, between R. D. of, &c. of the one part, and E. W. of, &c. for and on the behalf of C. W. an infant, fon of the faid E. W. of the other part, &c.

IRST the faid R. D. doth for himfelf, his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, hereby covenant and agree, to and with the faid E. W. and C. IV. agree to take into his fervice the faid C. W and him to teach and instruct in the trade or business of a bucklemaker, which he now ufeth, for the term of four years, to be computed from the date hereof, during all which time he fhall or will find, provide, or caufe to be found or provided for the faid C. W, fufficient meat, drink, wafhing, clothes and lodging, fitting and neceflary for him. And alfo pay or caufe to be paid unto him, at or after the rate of - a week, weekly, for and during the faid

Item. The faid E. W. and C. IV. for themfelves, feverally, and each of their several executors, and adminiftrators, do and each of them doth hereby for herself, and himself, covenant and agree, to and with the faid R. D. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, that the faid C. W. fhall, during the faid term of four years, work, and do the faid R. D. true, just, and faithful fervice in his trade or business aforefaid, on his being found or provided with the feveral neceflaries, and paid the feveral weekly payments in manner herein, before particularly mentioned.

AND for the true performance of the feveral covenants, and agreements aforefaid, each and either of the faid parties hereto doth hereby feverally bind and oblige himself, herfelf, and themfelves, his, her, and their heirs, executors and adminiftrators, unto the other of them, his, her, and their heirs, executors, and adminiftrators refpectively, in the penal fum of pounds, of lawful money of Great Britain, firmly by thefe prefents. MPRIMIS, The faid 7. S. in confideration that the faid 7. F. hath, by and with the confent of the faid S. F. his fon, testified by his being made a party to, and figning and fealing one part of thefe prefents, put and placed the faid S. F. to and with the faid

Item. THE faid J. F. for himself, his executors and administrators, doth covenant, promife and agree, to and with the faid 7. S. his executors and adminiftrators, by thefe prefents, as followeth, viz. That the faid S. F. fhall, duely, truely, and faithfully ferve him the faid 7. S. as his apprentice, for and during the whole term of feven years, to be accounted from the faid day of. - as aforefaid; and from thence next enfuing, and fully to be complete and ended, if the faid 7. S. and S. F. fhall fo long live during which said term of feven years, the faid S. F. fhall readily and willingly obey, perform, and obferve all his faid mafter's lawful commands, his fecrets keep, and fhall not willingly or negligently abfent himfeif, or depart from or out of the fervice of his faid mafter, day or night, without his knowledge and confent, nor fhall the said S. F. do any damage to his said master, or caufe it to be done by others.

Item. THE faid 7. F. for himself, his executors and adminiftrators, doth further covenant, promife and agree, to and with the faid 7. S. his executors and adminiftrators, that he the faid S. F. his executors and administrators, by these presents, that he the faid 7. F. fhall and will during all the faid term of feven years, find and provide, and allow unto the faid S. F. all manner of convenient and neceffary apparel whatfoever.

Item, THE faid 7. S. for himself, his executors and administrators, doth covenant, promife and agree, to and with the faid J. F. his executors and adminiftrators, that he the faid 7. S. will inftruct, and teach the faid S. F. according to the beft of his fkill and knowledge in his faid bufinefs, and will endeavour to teach him to know the value of all diamonds and other curious ftones relating to his bufinefs, and will alfo permit the faid.S. F. to go with him the faid 7. S. to Change and other places, that he may learn how to buy and fell jewels and other ftones. AND the faid f. S. doth hereby promife the faid 7. F. that if he the faid 7. S. fhould take a fervant to do the fetting part of the faid bufinefs, that he will alfo teach the faid S. F. or caufe him to be taught, the faid art of fetting being a branch of the faid bufinefs. AND the faid 7. S. will provide his faid apprentice with meat, drink, washing and lodging; and in cafe of fickness or any other accident, whereby his faid apprentice fhall be difabled to ferve him, he the faid 7. S. will alfo provide for and allow his faid apprentice all manner of neceffarics whatsoever, during his fickness.

AND LASTLY, The faid . S. for himself, his executors and administrators, doth covenant, promife, grant and agree, to and with the faid . F. his executors and adminiftrators as followeth, viz. That

in cafe either of them the faid 7. S. or S. F. fhall happen to die within the fpice of years, and half to be accounted from the faid day of as aforefaid, that then and in fuch cafe the faid 7. S. his executors or adminiftrators, fhall and will repay unto the faid S. F. his executors and adminiftrators, the fum of - pounds, in full discharge of all covenants and agreements, herein contained on the part and behalf of the faid J. S. his executors and adminiftrators, to be paid, done, and performed. In witnefs, &c.

IRST, the faid S. H. for the confiderations hereafter mentioned, doth covenant, promife and agree, to and with the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigus, in manner following, that is to fay, that he the faid S. H. fhall and will, truly and faithfully ferve, and work for him the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, and do and perform the art, bufinefs, and occupation of a cafter, and all things relating thereto, as he fhall from time to time be required, ordered, or directed by the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators or affigns, for and during the fpace of one year, to commence and be reckoned from the day of the date of thefe prefents, and from thenceforth fully to be compleat and ended; AND that he the faid S. H. fhall and will from time to time, and at all times during the faid term, do and perform all fuch work releating to the faid bufinefs of a caster, as he shall from time to time be required, ordered, or directed to do by the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators or affigns, during the faid term, according to the beft of his skill and judgment, and as may be moft for the profit and advantage of the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, and fhall and will keep the fecrets of the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, relating to the faid trade and bufinefs; and that he the faid S. H. fhall not, nor will at any time during the faid term wilfully neglect or depart from the faid work, fervice and employment of the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, nor do any work whatsoever, for any other perfon or perfons whatfoever, in the art or occupation aforefaid, or in any wife relating thereto, without the leave and licence of the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, or fome of them, firft had and obtained in writing under his, their, or fome or one of their hands for that purpofe. AND that he the faid S. H. fhall and will be just, true, and faithful to the faid 7. N. in all matters and things; and that he the faid S. H. fhall not, NUMB. II.

nor will not at any time during the faid term, do, or caufe, or willingly fuffer to be done, any act, matter, or thing whatfoever, to the hindrance or prejudice of the faid 7. N. his executors, administrators or affigns in the bufinefs aforefaid, or otherwife how foever.

And the faid f. N. for himself, his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, doth hereby covenant, promife and agree, to and with the faid S. H. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, in manner following, that is to fay, That he the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, for and in confideration of the work and fervice aforefaid, to be well, truly, and faithfully done and performed by the faid S. H. fhall and will weekly, and every week during the faid term pay, or caufe to be paid unto the faid S. H. or his affigns, the fum of one pound one fhilling, and alfo find and provide for the faid S. H. fufficient board and lodging, during the faid term.

PROVIDED ALWAYS, and thefe prefents are upon this condition, that if there fhall happen to be four weeks wages due, and in arrear and unpaid from the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators or affigns, after the rate aforefaid, unto the faid S. H. and the fame fhall be lawfully demanded, that then, and from thenceforth it thall and may be lawful to and for the faid S. H. to leave and depart from the fervice of the faid 7. N. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, and to determine and make void thefe prefents, any thing herein before mentioned to the contrary, in any wife notwithstanding.

AND LASTLY, for the true and faithful obferving and performing of all and every the articles, covenants, payments, provifoes, and agreements herein before mentioned and expreffed, to be by the faid J. N. his executors, administrators and affigns, and the faid S. H. obferved, paid, done, and performed as aforefaid, according to the true intent and meaning of thefe prefents, each of them the faid 7. N. and S. H. doth bind himself, his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, unto the other of them his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, refpectively in the penal fum of pounds, of lawful money of Great Britain, firmly by thefe prefents, In witnefs, &c.

HEREAS the faid IV. K. was by articles of agreement, bearing date the -, 1771, bound apprentice to 7. M. and J. S. late of, &c. Callico Printers, and partners, for the term of feven years, commencing from the day of the date thereof; and the faid J. M. furvived the faid J. S. and the faid W. K. duly ferved

the faid 7. M. until a commiffion of bankruptcy iffued against him, on or about the day of laft, and afterwards continued in the fervice of the affignees of his eftate, until the day of the date hereof, when he was at his request duly committed to the faid R. 7. for the remainder of his term. AND WHEREAS he the said W. K. hath agreed with the faid R. J. to abide with, and ferve him as his apprentice, or covenant fervant, as a Callico and Linen Printer, from the day of the date hereof, for the remainder of the faid feven years, which will expire on the day of —, 1778, upon the terms, conditions and agreements herein after mentioned. NOW THESE PRESENTS WITNESS, and the faid W. K. in pursuance of the faid agreement, and for the confiderations herein after mentioned, doth for himself, his executors and adminiftrators, covenant, promife and agree, to and with the faid R. 7. his executors and adminiftrators, by thefe prefents in manner and form following; (that is to fay) that he the faid W. K. fhall and will be, and continue with, and well, truly, diligently and faithfully, to the best of his skill and judgment, ferve the faid R. 7. and his partners, and no other perfon or perfons whomfoever in the capacity of a Callico, or Linen Printer, for and during the remainder of the faid term of feven years, to be computed from the day of the date hereof, and do and perform during the faid term, every act and deed relating to the faid trade or bufinefs in the best manner he is able. The hours of working and performing the faid bufinefs to be as follows, namely, from Lady-day to Michaelmas-day, from fix o'clock in the morning, until fix o'clock in the evening of each day, in every week, (Sundays only excepted) allowing thereout half an hour for breakfast, and an hour and an half for dinner each day; and from Michaelmas-day to Lady-day, from day-light in the morning, until it is dark in the evening each day, (Sundays likewise excepted) allowing thereout for dinner only one hour each day. AND ALSO, that he the faid W. K. fhall not, nor will at any time during the said term commit, or be guilty of any fraud or embezzlement of the money, goods, or other things of the faid R. 7. or his partners, or for which he or they fhall or may be accountable, wherewith he the faid W. K. fhall be entrusted; AND FURTHER, that he the faid W. K. fhall and will during the faid term find and provide, for himself at his own proper cofts and charges, apparel, board, lodging, and all other neceffaries whatfoever. AND the faid R. 7. doth for himself, his executors and adminiftrators, covenant, promife and agree, unto and with the faid W. K. his executors and adminiftrators, by these prefents, that he faid R. 7. fhall and will during the two firft years of the faid term, well and truly pay, or caufe to be paid unto the faid W. K. (in confideration of fuch fervices fo to be by him done and performed as aforefaid,) 12 s. of lawful money of Great Britain, weekly, and every week on every Saturday night thereof, the first payment thereof to begin and be made on the inftant, and the fum of 16 s. like money weekly, and every week on every Saturday night during the remainder of the faid term. PROVIDED ALWAYS, and it is further agreed by and between the faid parties,
