PREFACE.

The two former editions of the present work having met with considerable acceptance from the public, and the last having been for some time out of print, the Author has been induced to undertake the task of compiling a new edition, adapted to the present state of Canadian practice, and the recent statutes and decisions upon the subject, and for which his long experience may in some measure qualify him.

The design has not been to interfere with or supersede any established work on Conveyancing, but to compress within the limits of a single volume a large number of Conveyancing Precedents, which have come before the Compiler in his business of a Law Stationer during the last twenty-five years, and which he conceives by a careful revision to be adapted to more extensive usefulness, as an introduction to a more elaborate and scientific system of Conveyancing.

The Compiler would acknowledge the advantage the present edition has derived from the careful revision of

the original matter by J. E. ROSE, Esq., Barrister-at-Law, whose name will be a sufficient guarantee for the accuracy of that portion of the work.

The alphabetical and other arrangement has been adhered to as the most convenient of reference.

The volume is offered to the Legal Practitioner, Justice of the Peace, Conveyancer, &c., in the hope that it will be found a useful and convenient, as well as correct and reliable, compendium of all ordinary Legal Instruments.
