comfort to us all, that "as we know how to give "good gifts unto our children, fo will our hea-, "venly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that "afk him!" BLESSED LORD, who haft caufed all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant that we may in fuch wife hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digeft them, that by patience, and comfort of thy holy word, we may embrace, and ever hold faft the bleffed hope of everlafting life, which thou haft given us in our Saviour Jefus Chrift. Amen.

PREVENT Us (i. e. go before to affift us) in all our doings, with thy moft gracious favour, and

further us with thy continual help; that in all our works, begun, continued, and ended in thee, we may glorify thy name: Give us grace, that, being not like children, carried away with every blaft of vain doctrine, we may be established in the truth of thy Holy Gofpel; and finally, by thy mercy, obtain everlasting life, through Jefus Chrift, our Lord!

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who alone workest great marvels: Send down upon our Bifhops, and Curates, and all Congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy grace; and that they may truly pleafe thee, pour upon them the continual dew of thy bleffing! That it may please thee to illuminate all Bishops, Priefts, and Deacons, with true knowledge and understanding of thy word; and that, both by their preaching, and living, they may fet it forth, and fhew it accordingly! That it may please thee to give to all thy people increase of grace, to hear meekly thy word, and to receive it with pure affection, and to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit ! That it may please thee to bring into the way of truth all fuch as have erred, and are deceived! Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate and Mediator; Jefus Chrift! May the peace
