Mr. WYANT, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany H. R. 17071]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 17071) authorizing the construction of a bridge across the Mahoning River near New Castle, Lawrence County, Pa., having considered and amended the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

Amend the title to read as follows:

A bill granting the consent of Congress to the State Highway Department of Pennsylvania to construct, maintain, and operate a free hignway bridge across the Mahoning River near New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania,

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

So far as the interests committed to this department are concerned, I know of no objection to the favorable consideration of the accompanying bill (H. R. 17071, 71st Cong., 3d sess.), authorizing the construction of a bridge across the Mahoning River near New Castle, Lawrence County, Pa.

DEAR MR. PARKER: Careful consideration has been given to the bill H. R. 17071, transmitted with your letter of February 14, with request for a report

thereon and such views relative thereto as the department might desire to communicate.

This bill would authorize the State Highway Department of Pennsylvania to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge and approaches thereto on Pennsylvania State Highway Route No. 18, across the Mahoning River at a point just south of New Castle, Lawrence County, Pa., now served by a structure known as the Willow Grove Bridge. Favorable action on the bill is recommended.

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 17073) granting the consent of Congress to the county of Cook, State of Illinois, to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Little Calumet River on Cottage Grove Avenue near One hundred and fifty-eighth Street, in Cook County, State of Illinois, having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

This bill would authorize Cook County, State of Illinois, to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge and approaches thereto across the Little Calumet River, on the line of Cottage Grove Avenue extended, on the section line between sections 14 and 15, township 36 north, range 14 east, and just south of the east and west quarter lines through sections 14 and 15, Thornton township. Favorable action on the bill is recommended.
