PREFACE.

This volume appears in pursuance of a resolution of the General Assembly approved July 19th, 1870, of which a copy is prefixed to Volume V of Private and Special Laws of Connecticut, published in 1871.

The General Assembly, by an act approved July 18th, 1871, having declared that all acts of incorporation shall be deemed public acts, this volume is, therefore, entitled Special Laws, instead of Private Laws.

An Appendix has been added, containing the names, location, and date either of the organization or of the filing of the certificate, of all corporations formed under general laws, to the end of the year 1870.
