ON THE LAW RELATIVE TO SALES OF Personal Property. BY GEORGE LONG, Esq. BARRISTER AT LAW. Modus hujusmodi judicia excipiendi, et in scripta referendi, talis esto. Casus Bacon De Augm. Sci. Lib. 8. Aph. 74. LONDON: PRINTED FOR J. & W. T. CLARKE, LAW BOOKSELLERS, PREFACE. IN the following work the author has endeavoured to collect and arrange the various authorities which are to be found in our lawbooks respecting the sale of personal property. He has been encouraged in his undertaking by a consideration of the importance of the subject, and by the circumstance of one work only (Mr. Ross's Treatise on the Law of Vendors and Purchasers of Personal Property,) having appeared upon it. That book was published in the year 1811, since which time many important adjudications on the subject have taken place in the Courts of Law. If Mr. Ross had still been alive, the work which is now offered to the Public would probably not have been undertaken. |
