2 Thou, through Him, art reconciled;
I through Him become Thy child;
Abba, Father! give me grace,
In Thy courts to seek Thy face.
While Thy glorious praise is sung,
Touch my lips, unloose my tongue,
That my joyful soul may bless
Thee, the Lord, my Righteousness.
4 While the prayers of saints ascend,
God of love, to mine attend;
Hear me, for Thy Spirit pleads,
Hear, for Jesus intercedes.

5 While I hearken to Thy law,
Fill my soul with humble awe,
Till Thy gospel bring to me
Life and immortality.

6 While Thy ministers proclaim
Peace and pardon in Thy name,
Through their voicé, by faith may I
Hear Thee speaking from the sky.
7 From Thy house when I return,
May my heart within me burn,
And at evening let me say,

I have walked with God to-day.

789 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord,

1

all ye lands.-Ps. 100, 1.

WITH one consent let all the earth

To God their cheerful voices raise;
Glad homage pay with pious mirti,
And sing before Him songs of praise;
2 Convinced that He is God alone,

From whom both we and all proceed;
We, whom He chooses for His own,
The flock that He vouchsafes to feed.
3 O enter then His temple gate,

Thence to His courts devoutly press,
And still your grateful hymns repeat,
And still His name with praises bless.
4 For He's the Lord, supremely good;
His mercy is for ever sure;

His truth which always firmly stood,
To endless ages shall endure.

790 Serve the Lord with gladness.--`

Ps. 100, 2.

1 ALL people that on earth do dwell, Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;

Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell;

Come ye before Him and rejoice. 2 The Lord, ye know, is God indeed; Without our aid He did us make; We are His flock, He doth us feed; And for His sheep He doth us take. 3 O enter then His gates with praise, Approach with joy His courts unto; Praise, laud, and bless His name always, For it is seemly so to do.

4 For why? the Lord our God is good,
His mercy is for ever sure;

His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.

791 Hosanna. John 12, 13.

1 H

OSANNA to the living Lord!

Hosanna to the Incarnate Word!
To Christ, Creator, Saviour, King,
Let earth, let heaven, Hosanna sing.
2 Hosanna, Lord! Thine angels cry;
Hosanna, Lord! Thy saints reply:
Above, beneath us, all around,
The dead and living swell the sound.
3 O Saviour! with protecting care,
Return to this Thy house of prayer:
Assembled in Thy sacred name,
Here we Thy parting promise claim!
4 But chief, in every cleansed breast,
Eternal! bid Thy Spirit rest;

And make our secret soul to be
A temple pure, and worthy Thee!

5 So, in the last and dreadful day, When earth and heaven shall pass

away,

Thy flock, redeemed from sinful stain,
Shall swell the sound of praise again.

792 Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God

1

Almighty.-Rev. 4, 8.

MEET and right it is to sing,
In every time and place,
Glory to our Heavenly King,

The God of truth and grace.
Join we, then, with sweet accord,
All in one thanksgiving join;
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord,

Eternal praise be Thine.

2 Vying with the angelic choir
Who chant Thy praise above,
We on eagles' wings aspire,-
The wings of faith and love:
Thee they sing with glory crowned;
We extol the atoning Lamb:
Lower if our voices sound,

Our subject is the same.

3 Father, God, Thy love we praise,
Which gave Thy Son to die;
Jesus, full of truth and grace,
Alike we glorify;

Spirit, Comforter divine,

Praise by all to Thee be given,

Till we in full chorus join,

And earth is turned to heaven.

793 Who is like unto the Lord our

God?-Ps. 113, 5.

1 Hour God the song of praise:

ALLELUJAH! raise, O raise

All His servants join to sing,
God our Saviour and our King.

2 Blessed be for evermore

That dread name which we adore:
Round the world His praise be sung,
Through all lands, in every tongue.
3 O'er all nations, God alone,

Higher than the heavens His throne
Who is like to God most high,
Infinite in majesty?

4 Yet to view the heavens He bends;
Yea, to earth IIe condescends;
Passing by the rich and great,
For the low and desolate.

5 He can raise the poor to stand
With the princes of the land;
Wealth upon the needy shower;
Set the lowliest high in power.
6 He the broken spirit cheers:
Turns to joy the mourner's tears;
Such the wonders of His ways:
Praise His name, for ever praise.

78.

794 Blessed be Thy glorious name.

-Neh. 9, 5.

1 SONGS of praise the angels sang,
Heaven with hallelujahs rang,

When Jehovah's work begun,
When He spake and it was done.
2 Songs of praise awoke the morn,
When the Prince of peace was born;
Songs of praise arose, when He
Captive led captivity.

3 Heaven and earth must pass away,
Songs of praise shall crown that day:
God will make new heavens and earth,
Songs of praise shall hail their birth.
4 And will man alone be dumb,
Till that glorious kingdom come?
No:-the church delights to raise
Psalms and hymns, and songs of praise
5 Saints below, with heart and voice,
Still in songs of praise rejoice;
Learning here by faith and love,
Songs of praise to sing above.

6 Borne upon their latest breath,
Songs of praise shall conquer death;
Then, amidst eternal joy,

Songs of praise their powers employ.

795 Stand up and bless the Lord your

1

God.-Neh. 9, 5.

STAN
TAND up and bless the Lord,

Ye people of His choice;

Stand up, and bless the Lord your God,
With heart, and soul, and voice.

Though high above all praise,
Above all blessing high,

Who would not fear His holy name,
And laud and magnify?

O for the living flame

From His own altar brotight,

To touch our lips, our minds inspire,
And wing to heaven our thought!
There, with benign regard,

Our hymns He deigns to hear;
Though unrevealed to mortal sense,
The spirit feels Him near.

God is our strength and song,
And His salvation ours;

Then be His love in Christ proclaimed
With all our ransomed powers.

Stand up and bless the Lord,

The Lord your God adore;

Stand up and bless His glorious name, Henceforth for evermore.

796 Praise waiteth for Thee, O God, in

1

Zion.-Ps 65, 1.

PRAISE

RAISE waits in Zion, Lord, for Thee;
There shall our vows be paid:

Thou hast an ear when sinners pray;
All flesh shall seek Thine aid.

2 Lord, our iniquities prevail,
But pardoning grace is Thine;

And Thou wilt grant us power and skill
To conquer every sin.

3 Blest are the men whom Thou wilt
To bring them near Thy face; [choose,
Give them a dwelling in Thy house,
To feast upon Thy grace.

4 In answering what Thy church requests, Thy truth and terror shine;

And works of dreadful righteousness
Fulfil Thy kind design.

5 Thus shall the wondering nations see
The Lord is good and just:
And distant islands fly to Thee,
And make Thy name their trust.
