of the Mye, where three have been baptized. Our brother is still there. His great experience of Indian Missions, and acquaintance with natives, added to his ability to bear the fatigues of labour, eminently qualify him for this sphere of labour. Yet I cannot refrain from urging on the Directors the necessity of still further strengthening our Mission. We are absolutely forced to occupy different districts, and therefore need numbers which, with a more constrained range of labour, would not be required. It is exceedingly probable that in case of Naran's family embracing the truth, one of us would be obliged to reside at Broach in the rainy season. You must ORDINATION OF ON Wednesday evening, February 10th, Mr. B. Southwell, B.A., of Spring-hill College and the London University, was publicly ordained and set apart as a Missionary to China, in Ebenezer Chapel, Birmingham. The Rev. W. Fairbrother opened the service with reading and prayer. The Rev. J. Legge, D.D. (from China,) described the field of labour, and impressively urged its claims on the prayers and efforts of the British churches. The Rev. J. Roberts, (Pastor of the Church assem bear in mind that Baroda itself is not the sphere of our labour, nor is it likely to become so. The peculiar difficulties of labour in the Guicowar's territories, make us seek to labour in the territories of our own Government. These are north, south, and west, of Baroda, at the respective distances of fifteen to thirty miles. I do say, with perfect assurance, that God is graciously inviting us to these districts; and I earnestly beg that your Society will comply with His gracious invitation. As we advance in our work, we need efficient Missionaries, and two or three years are requisite to the efficiency of a new Missionary. MR. SOUTHWELL. bling in Ebenezer Chapel,) proposed the Ordination Questions, and received the Confession of Faith. The Rev. T. R. Barker, (Classical Tutor of Spring-hill College,) offered the Ordination Prayer, accompanied with the imposition of hands; after which the Rev. J. A.
